I currently have a Pentium 4 2.4 GHz SKT478 533MHz Northwood on a ASUS P4P800-SE with a ATi X800 XT AGP (my CPU bottlenecks with the x800 series) and am interested in purchasing a Pentium D 805 on an ASUS P5LD2-Deluxe with a ATi x800 XL PCI-E. I particularily use my computer for gaming, more specifically Battlefield 2 and Source-engine games. how big of a performance increase will I notice switching from my old setup to what I'm now interested in, considering my current CPU bottlenecks in alot of games. Also, how will the PD 805 stand-up in these games? On TomsHardware charts, it shows to be worse then a AMD64 2800, how can a dual-core processor be? Thanks.

I'm not sure why they are slower exactly.. but I do know the most Athlon 64's are faster than the earlier Pentium D's.. and then the X2 series is faster than most of the later Pentium D's.

At stock settings that is. The 805 can be highly overclocked.

A pentium d 805 overclocked to 3.5 can smoke most anything (thats not an fx or conroe)

I get 6600 in 3dmark 05, and 22000 in 3dmark01, on my pentiumd, with only a 7600gt!

How does it handle BF2/or DoD:Source?

With my setup I see 55fps min and 300fps max in DOD:S, and in BF2 I get between 75-150+ fps.
