IDE drive causing slow bootup?

I’m currently using a 74 raptor (8mb version) as the boot drive in my shuttle sn21g5 (nforce4 410). I noticed that the boot times in regarding to the windows logo with the blue bars was taking a surprisingly long time. On my old sn95g5 (nforce3 ultra) with the same HD setups, it’d take around 3 bars, but right now it’s taking close to 10. The startup process after the login screen is still very fast, it’s just the windows logo part. Currently, the Seagate IDE drive is set as the slave to my dvd drive, and when I remove it, windows would go back to only taking around 3 bars to boot. The sn21g5 only has one ATA133 channel as opposed to the two I had on the sn95g5, so the HD has to be set as slave instead of being on a separate channel by itself as master. Things I’ve tried to resolve this problem includes playing around with the jumper settings on the hd, making sure it was on UDMA transfer mode and not PIO, uninstalling the nvidia ide drivers, setting the network IP manually, and defragmenting both of the drives. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this problem?

Buy an external case. :)

Um...how often do you reboot? :p Maybe there's something wrong with that Seagate drive. I have about....hmm..7 drives on my computer and I don't think (though I never pay attention), that it takes 10 times around that bar to load Windows.

Try using Microsoft Bootvis (google it).

Turn off autodetection in the advanced settings, on the primary and secondary ide channels, for the devices that are not present.

nope, that didn't seem to work either :(. The raptor was on one primary ide channel alone, and I set the other device to none. Then the dvd drive and seagate was on the other primary ide channel, Both of the secondary ide devices had no devices so i set all four of those to none, and the two standard dual channel pci ide controllers had no such settings at all. I've also tried bootvis and optimization didn't seem to work either.
