Planning on Buying HD555/595 - Questions

I agree, always buy the best you can afford as long as it's worth the money and IMHO in this case it is, isn't that what it's all about? That little increase in sound quality that makes all the difference.

:D i hope so. I've never owned any high quality headphones or speakers so this is going to be a big change. But seeing how i only use a headset i guess its only fitting that i get myself a comfortable top notch pair of headphones because i wear them for a long time and they need to last a while too.

You betcha. With each of my upgrades, each time it's that little margin that makes it golden.

You're lucky, the first big jump is always the best. Trust me, you're going to love it ;)

I ordered the HD555's from Amazon yesterday. I plan on gaming and listening to some music. Please tell me I made a good purchase lol. They will be my first real good pair of headphones. I'm using logitech el cheapo's at the moment.

they take around 200 hours to burn in properly fyi. for jazz i found the 555s to be nice but for rock they were horrible. too thin sounding and not enough bass. the 595s sound similar supposedly.

i recently purchased the hd 595s about 2 weeks ago and i must say that they are a HUGE improvement over the hd 555s. the hd 555s are primarily focused on gaming an entry music listening, the 595s are all about gaming AND music, they sound great in either, and the version i got is 50ohmz so you dont REALLY need an amp, although i highly recommend it for music esp at louder volumes. both are great headphones, i managed to get my 595s off ebay for about 145 shipped from new-items only, some random seller. :)

ROFL what a small world i payed 145 shipped to the same seller..... :D Tuesday get here faster!!! i want them now

i'm in the same boat as you were. but i think it was an easy choice from going from the hd555's to the hd595's. but now i'm at a crossroads between the 50ohm hd595's and the 250ohm dt770's. i haven't seen the 80ohm dt770's around the $140 mark.

but i'm definitely swaying towards the hd595's since i don't think it'll need an amp as badly as the dt's...

*edited the impedance of the dt770's. i was in a rush writing this post and made a slight error.

got them today they are a WORLD of difference compared to my old ones, now one thing....

Is there a small mic i can buy to attach it to these? i've seen it done in a thread and they looked sick! just like if it was meant to be that way.

Im only askin because i want to give my friend my old headset but i need a small cheap mic i can use that i can put on these headphones is all.

after reading the reviews on the audiophile website www.headphone.com which actualy lists way more shit than I needed to know bout headphones there... I picked up a pair of HD555s... check out their charts with frequency responce listed, the HD555 in the end got a better score, so i went with it. Although it does warn that I'll have to break these in to get better lows and that general the sound is warm and buttery and less jagged and precise... they dont mention if this is better for gaming or music though, I think this site is striclty for audiophile music listening.
