Two new sources added to first post.

The official Japanese site, and another conference update site.

The US conference is only 7 hours away, we will find out for sure then.

I'll be plenty asleep by then, so hopefully I can wake up to some concrete news.

well just so yall know the nyt artice (which is also the ign article) got pulled!! so no its a true mystery for US... but we shall no in about 6 hours and 15 minutes

Good gerneral information but there are also specific questions that I want to know.

-What color will the Wii be releasing?

-Since games (Nes, SNES, N64) can be purchased through serivce or Wii points, what will hold the capacity of such games? I heard Media cards through some rumors but 8GB media cards can cost much as the console itself. Then people think Hard drives are a key role.
*Sub question*

-Does the Wii have USB 2.0? If so, external hard drive?

Im sooo excited for this console since it became intuitive. Nintendo made a big leap by Wii in designing games fun and interactive. Nintendo will come to, in my opinion, number one in gaming console again since the n64.

I guess this means Nov 19th is real. well the Wii press event is 2hrs 45mins we shall find out for sure if this is true.

I'm all over this like a cheap suit on a hobo.
I'm all over this like white on rice on a paper plate held by a polar bear in a blizzard.

anyone think its funny that all of a sudden the wii is more than a console, its a multimedia device with webbrowser, picture streaming and other online services?
i think its great, but its a move away from their "games only" mentality. perhaps they felt pressure to keep up with the other consoles in terms of functionality offered.

that price is only resonable if it comes with two controllers IMO.. though i'll buy reguardless

1 controller.
60 for another full controller (mote and nunchuk).

Nintendo shouldn't have abandoned its traditional $200 US price point. $250 is simply too much, regardless of all the neat little things you can do with photos etc. For all intents and purposes it IS a suped up Gamecube, even I, a Nintendo fan since the original NES can't argue that.
Wii Sports as a pack in does NOT add $50 worth of value to the system. Wii sports are to me what amounts to demos, nothing more.

lol. I like how people are surprised by the $250 price when they clearly said, "Nothing over 250." The rumors made your expectations way too high.

N got greedy. Higher price point, $60 for a 2nd controller.

One controller on a Wii just makes it a Mii.

I was ready to preorder my first console ever, but I'll just sit this one out and see what happens down the road.

Well, given that the dreamcast was $200, and the Wii is considerably more powerful, and factor in inflation, $250 ain't bad.

I really wish they hadn't gone this route, I'd rather save 50 dollars and have just a pure gaming system. They caved from the peer pressure of MS and Sony unfortunately... :I

Oh well. 249.99 for the console + Wii Sports = me happy on Nov 19th. I just wish Metroid Prime 3 was still a launch title.

Me too. But it does give reason to buy another controller since I can't spend money on Metroid or Mario.

Zelda and Red Steel here I come.

Can someone post when they hear that EBGames and Gamestop are taking preorders?

Yeah, you know somethings wrong when a controller costs more than the average game.

They should have included a second controller in that $250 package.

Also, due to the nature of this controller, I doubt we'll be seeing cheaper 3rd party controllers anytime soon (although I could be wrong on that).

Wow, $250 is too much

Even if it is a "More Powerful GameCube", $250 is a good price. It will look great next to my "More Powerful PS2" and the "More Powerful XBox".

It is interesting. But why not? It probably didn't take too much more work to throw those features in. It's smart of them.

BTW, the $250 package comes with 2 controllers and Wii sports.

edit: Apparently it does only come with one controller. WTF? I read that there were 2 included. That's gay.

1 controller, them saying the conroller + nunchuck or however they phrased it is 1, not 2

EDIT: confusion cleared up :)

What about the souped-up SNES controller?

Does it have to be purchased seperately?

It's two physical controllers but intended for one person so they're saying "1 controller" since it's the wiimote+nutchuck thing and a regular controller.

its still not that bad from a price perspective... its still very cheap

so we are looking at...
250 for the console and 1 controller
180 for 3 more controller sets

so itll only be like 430 for the whole deal... good shit...

throw in a few games and a few downloads and still well under a grand :D

Of course. We need a price on all perips!

meaningless. Every Nintendo console between the NES and Gamecube was 200 USD at launch. $250 for what amounts to a slightly more powerful gamecube is not worthwhile.
