can you please specify which plugins?

ok, i dug up the plugins list and here are the following plugins that are listed

mozilla default
Shockwave Flash
MetaStream 3 Plugin
Java(TM) 2 Platform Standard Edition 5.0 Update 4
Adobe Acrobat
Windows Media Player Plug-in Dynamic Link Library
Microsoft® DRM

hope that helps

Netscape Windows media plugin 6.4 ( Don't work about the 6.4. That's just the plugin version.)

It should install the files to "c:\program files\windows media player" and the files should automatically be scanned by Firefox (All the ones that start with 'np'.). You might want to make sure your windows media player is up to date also.

Also, make sure "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList\firefox.exe" is present in the registry so you see the newer wmp skin.

Quicktime Plugin (install the one without itunes if you don't use that stuff )

The plugin files Firefox needs will show up in "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\Plugins". The number of files depends on how many quicktime browser plugin types you have set in edit -> preferences -> quicktime preferences -> browser - mime settings. You can check them all except the flash one under misc. ( under the advanced tab is where you turn of the systray icon btw). Also, you don't have to register Quicktime, just "nothanks" it if it ever bugs you. Anyway, Firefox will automatically scan the files in the quicktime plugins directory.

Flash and shockwave

Install Flash for Netscape and the *full* version of Shockwave for Netscape. The installers should place the files Firefox needs in the Firefox plugins directory. Again, you should not have to do anything but install. (Uninstall existing version first.)

Free RealPlayer plugin ( Just cancel if it asks you to register. Also, go into setup and turn off update checking if you want. )

The files Firefox needs will be installed to "C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\Netscape6". Firefox should automatically find them, but if not, you can copy them to the Firefox plugins directory.

Sun Java Runtime Enviroment 5.0 Update 8. Make sure you only have one version of java installed.

Also, for RealPlayer and Quicktime, you may not like the bloated player programs they come with. If you don't plan on using them, and all you want is the plugin handling part, you can install Real alternative and Quicktime alternative instead.

Real Alternative
Quicktime Alternative

They come with Media Player Classic, which is a light-weight, but cool player.
I think the installers for the alternatives find Firefox and copy the plugin files it needs to the Firefox plugins directory, but not sure. Firefox might also find the plugins in program files, but not sure. You may have to copy them manually.

DivX Player. It comes with the DivX Webplayer plugin. Then, Firefox can play DivX content in web pages also.

Once you get all that installed, ( just the wmp and flash should be enough ) you should be able to play all kinds of stuff.

Videolan also comes with a plugin to play all types of stuff.

video.google.com uses flash to play videos. It works with flash 7, but you should have flash 9 installed.

Most other sites will use flash or the The windows media plugin.

It looks like you have both, so it could be another problem. ( You could start with a fresh profile. )

"c:\documents and settings\username\application data\Mozilla\Firefox" backup and delete pluginreg.dat

Go into the profile folder, then the folder for the profile you're using and delete all the files ( back them up first if you have anything important like bookmarks or extensions. )

Then, start Firefox. It will create new profile files and a new pluginreg.dat.

Edit:

Or start firefox like this:

firefox.exe -profilemanager

Then, you can create a new profile wherever you want so you can test.

Also, how bout a link to a page where the problem happens so we can compare.
