Saints Row XBOX360

It is definately more fun then GTA hands down, but like any new game of a genre it should be. GTA had its time and now its been replaced by SR. In a year we are guranteed to get a superior GTA game. Thats how it should be.

I f'ing love it. I've bought every GTA game since the original for my Pentium 120mhz. It doesn't quite have the zing that the GTA games have had, its nothing I can put my finger on but the radio for example is a massive weakness, that said it is enormous fun, balances the difficulty level better than GTA did and the graphics are just amazing if you ignore the slight graphics slowdown when explosions are going off left and right.

The city may be far smaller than SA (roughly equiv to VC I think) but it crams a lot more into it, it doesn't feel small to me and all the space is relevant.

The whole character customisation via your clothing is a minigame unto itself there are that many choices. I've spent ages tweaking my guy, the only problem with it is that there aren't too many choices at the high end clothing stores and it is increasingly important as you progress to get the best clothes you can afford as the grind for respect gets very difficult.

The cars are great, all very individual in driving style and I like the customisation you can do ontop of that, I've got some very pimp rides on the go now (make sure you get an armored car asap though, makes missions 10x easier)

The "mature themes". Holy Shit they might have gone too far, Probably not but it pushes the boundaries, Hilary will be up in arms if she hears it, just the chatter from the passersby was enough to make my girlfriend blush and the escort missions have some "choice" language to say the least. The language in cut scenes does feel a bit more "real" though, a comment the actors made about it being better than some films they'd worked on (language wise rather than plot) is spot on.

Your character, he can look however you want him to but I think the GTAIII style silent man is a bit boring, I hope the inevitable sequal injects a bit more life into your avatar, Tommy Vercetti style

All in all its a great game, lacks the spark that GTA has in some ways but makes up for it with very fun gameplay (yey for controlling where you shoot) and the customisation options make you feel more involved. The plot seems reasonably strong, the minigames are all fun (although insanely difficult after level 5) and it is absolutely a game on its own merits rather than a GTA knock off. It IS better than GTA in a lot of areas.

I'm looking forward to the sequel already, and very excited at the gauntlet thrown down to GTA 4.

But seriously Volition, better radio and bring back Mr King if you can, I love that guy.

And fix the multiplayer, its unplayable.

Damn right, Michael Clark Duncan (The voice for Benjamin King) did a damn good job. So did Keith David.

I also like how Saints Row makes fun of ricers on this game with the Rollers (Wannabe Gangster, techno bumping, domestic hating douchebags).

Domestic cars DO suck though...

I thought that was hilarious as well. Iratus, I think it is the mature themes in this game that really helps make it fun. These guys have pushed the envelope and have done things that the GTA people didn't even do. It's a rather refreshing gaming experience!

Out of curiosity, what kind of armored cars can you buy, and do you buy that at the foreign powers car dealer in the game?

Its just the armored truck. We call them armoured cars here in Euroland. Sadly you can't get a bullet proof merc :(

I don't deny the mature themes further the game somewhat but I still found the game a bit "did he really just say that"

I want it for its co-op style gta action. how is it is it laggy or nice?

hi i finished the first mission of the game aka back to basics but after that no missions appear anymore... i have done loads of the activities and my respect meter is up to nearly 6x! i go to the map and scroll through the filter options and their are no missions for me to do!

Laggy as hell at the moment, hope they fix it.

Did you go get a gun from the gun store?

yea i did that and killed those otehr members from another gang and after i dropped off that white guy that was helping me that was it. no missions showed up at all

OK I'm not much farther along than you are but I believe at this point you need to do the "stronghold" mission. Go to your map screen and filter by strongholds, there should be one nearby. Go to it and start that mission.

considering all but the very first GTA games have bored me, this one is refreshingly good.

That's exactly why this game is so refreshing! The fact that I am constantly doing double takes thinking "did he really just say that" is what makes this game so fun. This game just pushes the envelope in ways no one else would dare at this time. This is "the" mature rated game that i've been waiting many years for. However, the ending really really blows and has me pissed off for the time being.

Really? I thought the ending was cool I expected it to be something else, but when it happened I didnt mind it at all.

I thought that after you beat the game, you could continue to drive around and tie up all of the side missions you didn't do. It turns out you'll just have to reload an earlier saved game to do that.

so where is this armored car at? im having a hell of a time with a few of these missions?

You know what.... maybe they have it or not... but i'm surprised i havent seen your character hook up with a chick...

you could do that in the game Fable... why not in a rated X type game?

I think it's just the luck of the draw of running into them while driving around the streets. I see them driving around most often in the high end retail area, which is where I highjack them. However, the armored cars appear to only have the ability to carry one passenger at a time, which makes the snatch missions rather hard.

There's a humvee as well but not found it yet :(

I wonder if thats any good at taking bullets, (probably better than the real tin can :) )

You know what is funny when you fist do the insurance fraud missions, I tried jumping in front of cars when I make him fall down I do it too early and I miss the car. Gotta love the pimp missions.

The "Bulldog" as it's called in the game is not very durable. While it's rather fast, it's also not very easy to turn that thing, which makes making an escape even harder. I found that using the "FBI" SUV is probably a little easier for the snatch missions as they are really fast, can turn decently, and are a little durable.

It's all about the Stretch hummer. Biggest useless car in the game (But I had to store it in the garage because I only seen ONE of them).

That big stretch limo hummer is actually pretty easy to find if you know where and when to look for them. I found that it was easiest to find them in the downtown and high end retail area during the early morning hours.
