So whats the deal with this? What do I use 16:9 or 16:10? Whats the best resolution for my monitor/card? Because the text looks horrid in widescreen. Thanks for the help.

I used 16:10 with my 2005FPW.. Seeing as we have virtually the same monitors, I'd suggest 16:10 or whatever your desktop resolution is.

My text was not garbled so I don't know whats the problem.

I thought everyone played CS at 800x600 on a 21" monitor with everything set to "low" ...

;)

j/k...

On my laptop I ran it at just under native res since the 4200 had 'issues" trying to run at 1920x1200. I would follwo JadedMaple's advice and set it to what your desktop resolution is.

Peace,
Tim

I think it depends on your monitor and its native resolution. The aspect ratio should be what the aspect ratio is for your monitor. My monitor's native resolution is 1680x1050 so its aspect ratio is 16:10 I play at 1680x1050 and the game looks great and the text is fine. So figure out your monitor's native resolution then change the aspect ratio to find that resolution and set it to that. If your video card can't handle the game in that resolution then put it at a lower resolution in that aspect ratio.

my native rsolution is 1680x1050. So i guess if i set that in game, the txt would look better. I guess I have to sacrifice some eye candy too keep my FPS up.

with your setup at that res you shouldnt really have to sacrafice anything. I have a 6800gt with a p4 2.53 and I run HL2 and Lost Coast at 1680x1050 and it runs just fine with everything turned on.

Your right I was just worried. txt looks awesome. the game looks amazing at my desktops native res. Its sooooo pretty. thanks all

I run 1680x1050 on my other computer which is an XP3000+ with 1gb ram and a Radeon 9700pro with everything max and it plays great. I don't think the op should need to play at a lower resolution with an 800.

Look up your monitor online and see which ratio it is 16:9 or 16:10. They vary from model to model. My 215TW is a 16:10. I hear that 16:9 is more common, atleast CS:S offers that choice:D

16:9 is not at all common on widescreen monitors, but most TV's use that ratio.

If you use your widescreen TV as a monitor, use 16:9.

If you use your LCD widescreen monitor, use 16:10.

If you're using a fullscreen monitor and you just want to play in widescreen mode, go 16:10, cause the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen will be smaller.
