Im looking into getting something that can browse the internet for cheap, its either the PSP, or the DS-lite with linux and retwawq or opera if i can get it, anyone have any expierience?

DSL is still alot cheaper then the psp with the opera browser and you have a touch screen which makes it like a Pocket PC.

You can also buy a sd card kit for it for damn cheap and still be saving over the psp.

A couple options.

DS-Xtreme
G6 Lite
M3 SD or CF or Mini SD

Great for development of homebrew ds stuff ;)

i had a psp, but sold it on ebay.... the games are hard to control and are mostly boring, except a few, browsing takes about 10 years to get somewhere, and i would imagine ds would be harder... just go with a pocket pc or cheap lappy

doing a little research, and that looks awesome. Does anyone have any experience with it?

Worth the $99? I like the idea of never again switching NDS cards...

Given the advantage the psp has in megahUrtz over the DS, I'd expect the psp to at least render web pages faster. Personally though, any web page with lots of images or flash on it loads like crap on the psp. The DS is probably worse. I do enjoy the larger and nicer screen of the psp and playing games via memory stick is always fun :D. I actually sold my DS Lite b/c of that whole cracking thing going around.

if you want to surf, buy an old laptop...

I never tried surfing on my DSlite, but when I had my PSP HOLY CRAP it sucked, the games were medioker, hacking it was quite funny, and having Sony suck all of my money for stupid things, like there UMD discs. I would thought they would learn there mistakes from the minidisc. There going down too. They stoped making the UMD's and some places stopped carrying them. I saw a buy one get one free at a EB not to long ago. Then I tried surfing the internet, my Palm was alot faster than this and more advanced and cheaper at the end. I havent tried this on the DSlite, but however I do have the G6, which is awsome. I would recommend that.

I think the PSP sucks for browsing. Awful interface and text looks lousy. Very dissapointing. Sony needs to seriously rethink this device which could have been much more than it is. thats tghe problem with a company who owns content also making a device that uses content.

Linux on the DS - why? I'm very interested, but why would one do this other than for the hell of it?

I forsee myself going to Frys and getting a compatible wireless card tomorrow to play with WiFiMe.... :D

The PSP has a passable web browser, as do most PocketPC or Pam based phone/PDA hybrids, I don't have any experience with the DS Lite. The fact is, you will never get a similar web experience for a handheld device as to a real computer unless you shell out for one of the mega expensive full WinXP based handheld devices (Sony has one, and I want it, I just can't justify the expense).

Personally, I find my HP iPaq hw6515 more useful for on the go browsing as I don't have to have a local WiFi source, I can just use the built in GSM modem to dial in no matter where I am and it just takes off of my normal minutes, plus, it just takes one device to carry, can sync with any of my e-mail accounts, plus AIM instant message service (it might be able to do others, but that is the only one I use).

I've gotta say if you're just getting something for web surfing and not playing games, then get an old laptop or a pda. Neither the psp nor the ds provide anything resembling a pleasurable browsing experience.

I've never surfed on a DS lite but doing so on the PSP just downright sucks.

I have both and they are both shite, no......mega shite!! I think psp load a little quicker but the ds is handy with the touch screen, to use soley for internet id avoid like the plague, mobile phones/pdas are much better.
