Should my pc be slow?

Hey guys I just built me another pc,here's the specs:
Dell 24inchWS*asus A8N5X*A64x2 4200
x1900xt*SB audigy 2 zs*160hd
Antec 500w tp
ok now my problem,when I run HL2 e1 it seems like it stutters now and then and I thought with my hardware I should be able to run it fine with no hicups.Nothing is overclocked,
I have everything set to max on CCC,I"m running it at 1920 x 1200.So I guess I'm wondering if the resolution is the performance hog or can this x1900xt not run games like this with the settings maxed out on the CCC or if it's sumpthin else.

Now when you mean stutters do you mean: is the gameplay stutters or is starting up stutter?

Because hf2 is a everything hog, memory video card and hard hard drive space

i think you are in the same situation, you are expecting too much out of out of your card at those resoultions and quality settings

Yeah, check your fps by typing cl_showfps 1 into console. Sounds like thats the issue, and I dont think HL2 has problems with dual core processors, but you might try changing the affinity to 1 core.
