Im only getting the E6400, a DS3 mobo and 2GB of Corsair DDR2 Ram. I am harvesting everything else from the previous system, including my x800XL which I will upgrade after DX10 cards hit the market.

My old mobo NB chip fried and it is in RMA right now, when I get it back I am upgrading the parent in laws PC with that mobo, proc and RAM and a cheapy PCIe card. Basically it looks like I am getting into the C2D goodness on the cheap.

2Gb Giel DDR2 800 HZ = $240
OCZ PowerXstream 700w = $180

Well, I already have everything except motherboard & CPU.

$359 for e6600

so $500

Now if you count everything else that I already had:

.

Beg your pardon, but how in the hell did you get these two for those prices?

I've never seen the 150GB for less than $210. I've been watching the price on that monitor for the past month and it's never been less than $750.

Where are you buying this stuff??!

The 2407 is around that price right now (w/o tax)

CASE: Antec P180 $123.99 (free ship)
CPU: E6400 $249 (free ship)
HEATSINK: Scythe Ninja with Fan, $31.99
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 $149.99
RAM: Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X2048-6400 5-5-5-12 $218 -$40 rebate
VIDEO: POWERCOLOR X1600PRO 256MB Dual DVI $109
PSU: Already owned, but Enermax Noisetaker 480W about $79.99
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS (Perpendicular Recording Technology) $95
HDD: Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10,000 RPM $169.99
ROM: LITEON 16X16 DBL LYR DVD+/-RW W/B $34.99
TV TUNER: POWERCOLOR T55E-P03 PCI-E x1 TV tuner $69

Since I owned the PSU already, total without PSU after rebate is $1210, plus taxes and various shipping.

I didn't need a fancy video card as I plan to do Photoshop things, just made sure it was dual dvi, plus I need a reserve money to get my 360 repaired.

It's $703.20 right now:
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-4335

Don't know about that $650 price. I'd finally be tempted at that price because $703 is still a bit high when there is tax for added on and I already own a 20inch. More practical to get a 2nd 20inch.

Replaced a X2 4400+, A8N32-SLI, and Corsair PC4000 with...

$358 - E6600 Oem
$270 - 2GB OCZ PC28000 Gold
$230 - Asus P5N32-SLI SE

$858

I like to play with and learn new things!

E6600 - $360
P5W DH Deluxe - $230
X1900XT - $350
2GB Corsair DDR2-800 $200
Zalman 9500 - $50
Zalman VF-900 - $40
Seagate 320GB 16mb cache - $100
Case- $120
Logitech g7 mouse- $60
LG L204WT 20.1" Widescreen LCD - $319

Total - approx. $1829

The 150GB Raptor was a price mistake from Dell awhile back, got in on that deal through a Slickdeals post, was 162 with free shipping.

And the 2407FPW was when they were at 703 towards the beginning of july and I had a concession coupon from a damaged laptop I ordered. No tax here in oregon, so thats always a plus. :)

I only needed to buy the new platform gear.

E6600. $360
Asus P5W DH deluxe $220
Gskill 2Gb DDr2 HZ stuff $240

x1900XT with CF edition, and X-Fi will stay in the stacker 830. :D

About the only thing i don't have is nice raptors. Just normal WD Drives. Otherwise I have no desire to switch anything from my rig.

p5w dh deluxe $245 about 6 weeks ago from zzf
2 gb gskill HZ $240 about 6 weeks ago newegg
e6600 retail, pre order from monarch around 2 or 3 weeks ago, $345
805d (to screw around with while waiting for my c2d and to flash bios on p5w) around $100 from newegg 6 weeks ago.

so including the 805d, around $930. but after i sell the 805d and my amd stuff and ddr, it will end up costing me around $300 - $400. so i hope its worth it, and it should be from what i am seeing/reading.

I'm running about 1650 for the build. This build see's my first new case in about three computers.

Of course, I'm also heading out of town just as the parts arrive. Oh well, they'll be here when I get back.

e6400 = $250 (hardforums)
msi 975x platinum v2 = $190 (mwave.com)
2gb ocz 6400 platinum = $220 - $50mir = $170 (outpost.com)
1gb mushkin 5300 green = $60 (hardforums)
Mushkin 550w PSU = $55 (hardforums)
Sapphire 256mb x850xt = $125 (newegg.com)
Thermaltake Armor VA8000S = $80 (ebay.com)
Samsung 940bw = $249 - $50 bestbuy/officemax PM - $60 mir = $139 (fry's)
Noctua NH-U9, 2x92mm fans (zalman, panaflo), 3x120mm yateloons = $53

new total = $1282 - $110mir - $50pm = $1122

previously owned.
80gb western digital 8mb pata = $80 (fry's 2003)
250gb seagate 16mb pata = $89 - $17mir = $72 (fry's)
logitech g5 = $35 (justdeals.com)
logitech access keyboard = $15
dvdrom = $30 (fry's 2002)
= $232
total = $1354

cost a little more than i planned on spending... originally was to do an e6300 + ds3 build with 1gb ram and keep old 17" crt monitor (died last week). original estimate was under $800. i dont think i really need 3gb of ram... might get rid of the 2gb kit... depends on how far the 1gb stick OC's. i got really lucky on good deals with the 1gb ram, psu, case, and monitor. i think i overpaid for everything else, but hey... you win some, you lose some.

I went all out and I couldn't be happier:

- Coolermaster ATC-410-SX1 -$220
- PC Power and Cooling 510 ASL - $243
- ATi X1900XTX - $239
- E6600 CPU - $369
- 2GB Corsair DDR2 PC6400-C4 - $250
- 1x74gb Raptor, 2x500gb WD - $0

Still need a GOOD motherboard :(

Where did you x1900xtx for $239? Did you pay that price or are you just counting the cost of upgrading after selling another card?
