tough discision on YESTERDAYS TOP CARD and TODAYS MID-RANGE?

Buddy, my 6800GT ran Far Cry with SM3 just fine, so the ultra/etc would have just been fine.

I still think you're full of it.
 
OP you have no idea what you are talking about, game developers will not force visual effects on you

Notice Oblivion you can use HDR/Bloom, or neither

Look. The system in my sig. can run FarCry with EVERYTHING on high at 1280x1024 with 60+ fps. Do you even realize that FarCry is like 2 years old to begin with? Why would someone go out and invest a little under $200 on a video card that is last generation. Yes I agree that it is a fast card and still works well for games. Wouldn't it make sense to spend a little less money and purchase a comparable card from todays generation. If you had seen any off the benchmarks that have been posted on this site recently you would have seen that a 7600gt is almost as fast as a 7800gt. Just ask the guy who just upgraded to a 7600gt sli setup. Just the availability of sli for the 7600gt makes the purchase of it a whole lot more sensible than the x850xt PE.
Further more don't just post tech specifications of various video cards. Just becasue yesterdays card has 16 pipes and 8 vertex shaders doesn't mean that it is faster than new card with 12 pipes and 5 vertex shaders. If you want to make a valid arguement you need to post some benchies from TODAYS games. Such as Oblivion, FEAR, ect. Don't just make random arguments.
Can you please stop with the "cum" and the o0. It is really bothersome and makes your writing hard to read. It wouldalso be nice if you wrote in complete sentences and stopped using the grammar of a 2nd grader. I don't mean to insult but it would definitley earn you a little more respect on these forums if it didn't seem like you drunk. :)
 
I'm getting around 55fps average in Far Cry with my x850xt pe. Could me cpu be the limit?

x850xtPE > 7600gt (x850xtPE wayy powerful than 7600gt... price nearly same)
x850xtPE > 7800gt (doesnt worth paying extra 100 for tiny tiny increase performance)
 
UH... the 7600GT and X850XT are actually nearly identical in terms of performance. Maybe the X850XT PE is slightly faster only because it's slightly faster than the X850XT... maybe...

And the 7800GT is better than the X850XT PE, but yeah... not by much. You can't even really buy new 7800GTs nowadays though...
 
yes the x850 was top dog!! woohoo!! plenty of other choices too!! just because a game supports sm3.0 and ur running a geforce6 doesn't mean its gonna be slow by any means. farcry runs great with 6 series cards for example...

far cry sure runs great on 6 series.... but how bout 3.0 shader patch? yeah right....

btw 7600gt is far from near indentical to 850xtPE lo0k here

and also here... if a 7800gt is tiny tiny bit performance increase from x850xtPE now think how would a 7600gt will be?

x850xtPE > 7600gt
x850xtPE > 7800gt
x850xtPE > x1600xt
x850xtPE > x1800gto

7800gtx > x850xtPE
7900gt > x850xtPE
x1800xt > x850xtPE

there was nothign there in your link that had a far cry benchmark. 3dmark05 does not have shader model 3.0 tests either. And seriously, a 500 point difference is not that big in 3dmark. keep in mind that 3dmark05 is a SYNTHETIC benchmark, NewMonster. Im sure the 7600gt is faster in the more recent games like FEAR, or even farcry.

so wat do you think it is? My ram runs ar ddr333 but at 2-2-2-5. I usually run 4xaa/8xaf with vsyn off and high detail. Do you think that's reasonable fps?
 
I thought the x850xt pe didnt support pixel shader 3.0/hdr/ect. So obliously a 7 series card that does support these things will beat an old unsupported ati card. :rolleyes:

at least it can run the PS 3.0 patch, unlike your precious ati card

plus your link comparing the 7600gt and your precious ati card doesn't prove anything you spewing

plus the 7600gt has purevideo, which helps in video playback. Your precious ati card doesn't have AVIVO which is the equivalent of purevideo

and the fan on your precious ati card is LOUD

months that way. :rolleyes:

And STOP quoting GPU review. A single 3dmark benchmark means NOTHING. NADA. ZIPPO. Zilch.

And I'd find an unbiased reviewing site, not Rage3d, which is an ATi site, and even THEY admitted that the 7800GT creamed the X8 series.

7600gt's can be found for cheaper than x850xt's, as low as $130 and yet you would rather pay more for an older card :rolleyes:

I don't have fraps, but over 40, since I loved the game and can't stand anything less.

newegg is supposed to be the cheapest pricing? o_O what the heck are you smoking, buddy? Get a clue here, please. They're well priced, but not the cheapest.

And no, it wouldn't be worth it to buy the X850... the 7600 has a lot more future-proof design, can run the newer SM3 games, and is a lot more modern.

if u want 7600gt jus to play shader 3.0 games... u can forget it! u better off getting a x1800xt, 7800gtx or higher cards.

more feature does not mean anything if the speed cant hang
 
you get a 7600GT bacause it has a good price/performance ratio. You get it because it runs most games pretty well and it happens to support PS 3.0 as well, so you have the option of a little more eye candy at the cost of performance.

nobody thinks "i want to play JUST PS 3.0 games, i'll get a 7600gt" which is what you're saying. you get a 7600gt because its CHEAP, and can play PS 3.0 games

think more three dimensionally, or in your case, at least in one dimension

7600gt to me is like... a a fat man stuck in the do0r way.....

not super for shader 3.0 games... not super for 2.0 games... its jus in between... y not pay a tiny more for higher speed x850xtPE? its worth the money

What is the point of it, exactly? Some noob trying to convince every one to buy a old, slow card? Is he trying to justify his purchase?

Get a 7600GT or a 7900GT. End of story, they are the best midrange cards.
