Hey all, I got a 7900GTX Extreme XFX about 4 days ago. Powered it up and found out I cannot score higher then a 8300 on 3DMARK05. I first thought it was not enough power from my Dell Gen 5 Desktop. So I ordered Dells 650 Watt power supply, still no change. So I bought a coller master 600 watt, still nothing, finally last but not least I picked up Thermaltakes Dedicated PCIe VIdeo Card power unit:

And yet no change, still 8300 on 3dmark.

Do I have a bad vid card, does the Gen 5 Not support this card?

Please help!

Maybe something else is wrong in your PC software wise, how many processes are you running ? also did you do a clean install or reinstall of your drivers? or try different driver versions.. what are the temps you get on the card maybe its throttling down or something

My friend hits 7900 on 3dmark with a 7800 GT OC, and your saying 8300 is normal for my vid card? Card is set at 675/850

GET THIS: I underclocked it to 550/750 and guess what still right about 8k on 3dmark, almost 0 change with 100mhz less, something aint right. Card idles about 48 degrees.

Specs,
Fresh Reformat, just bf2 and 3dmark
P4 Dual Core 3ghz
W/D Raptor 80 Gig,
2GB 667mhz Ram
Sound Blaster Audigy ZS 2

what are the specs of the P4? if you look at the comparison chart I linked, you'll see that there aren't many p4s in there at all :(

let me run '05 real quick, i have X2 3800+, 2gb pc-6400 and a 7900GTX.

ok i get ~9200 without turning anything off or setting "performance" settings in drivers. (with no overclocks, that will be done when the rest of my watercooling parts come :D)

i think it's your proc. holding you back, p4's are kinda nasty.

Thats what I was thinking too, but I also note that he does have a dual core. That should help.....P4's are not the best to benchmark with, but he does have a dual core......???

Ok, here is what is killing my score. The First and last testing, I avg about 50FPS or so sometimes spiking 70FPS, the MIDDLE one I hit like 17 fps, the firefly one, thats gotta be whats dropping my score hard?

The thing im questioning is how come I can lower the card settings like 100mhz and only lose about 200 points, something doesn't seem right?

Your 06 score is right in the ball park, but your 05 score is way off.

Mine
10680 3dmark05 7900GTX 512mb 7\23\06
5245 3dmark06

Reinstall 3dmark 05

Actually I hit right at 6001 or something, but I'm so damn confused. How can my 06 mark be right and my 05 be wrong, could I have somthing bad on the card that 05 is trying to utalize?

05-mainly a v.card benchmark
06-a larger portion of the benchmark is based on CPU
