hey guys, my dads computer company has recently shut down and now i have many computer cases at my disposal and i wanna mod at least one of them, i has an idea of putting a fish tank into a case, but the heat wouldnt be good(if its possible someone please elaberate) but im itching to mod something...

aquariums have been done many times over. Lian Li even made a case with an aquarium window

Case modding doesn't always have to be for looks. Try functional mods like adding fan mounts. Tastefully mind you. Some cases look better if you paint the inside too. Give the thing a full on paint job. I'm getting ready to do the inside of my case a metal flake blue then I'ma clear coat the thing. Also I cut out the fan grills on my case and made a 70mm x 140mm hole in the top for 2 more 80mm fans. And I'm gonna make a shroud for them to improve looks as they are on the case.

My Case is only a RaidMax Horizon but by the time I'm done with it it will be as sleek and sexy as any case out there.

Just make sure that whatever you do to the case, take your time. I spent an hour cutting/smooting out each fan grill I removed so it didn't get screwed up.

Oh, something to keep in mind. Black is getting overdone. I'm thinking bout the Blue metal flake interrior and a Gold metal flake exterior. And if I can I'ma try to do the drive cages in Gold metal flake as well.

blow hole and a window... cut out stamped grills and replace with wire grills. hole on mobo tray to route cables.. etc

you could get a liquid cooling system and a hookah, set that thing up, wow! make sure to get one with 2 hoses

havn't thought of that one... how about a modular hose system so you could have just one or as many as eight hoses...

How about a computer case that has a 17" LCD built into the side panel. You could create hinges and have it swivel out for viewing, being hidden while it's aimed towards the motherboard.

i think we need to know the guys area of expertise, if he doesn't know electrical the LCD idea would be a bit of a stretch, not to mention balance issues of an LCD hanging all its' weight on the side of your computer. You could just try installing it into the side of the computer and do a window mod, and hell add speakers FTW!

You have a good point with the balance issue...besides, what would look even better would be a pair of LCD's, one on each side. ^_^ Get a decent PCI-E mobo and graphics card and have a dual monitoer display that handily folds against the side of your tower. Then you could mount a sturdy handle to the top and have a go-anywhere LAN rig. Heck, get a server power supply and run the LCD's straight off the 12V rails so you only need one outlet to power the whole thing.

As for the lack of electrical expertise, that's what [H]ardForums is for. I'm sure there are lots here who'd be willing to walk em through it.

how about a case where almost every square inch has razor sharp metal spikes jutting out, pulsating red lights embedded behind eye socket like fixtures, blood that spurts at you if you get too close.. um  I think I went too far :(

why did you stop! i was writing this stuff down for my next mod! i was thinking the iron maiden number of the beast album cover as a side window. maybe WC tubes wrapped in barbed wire with red liquid.... yeh... BA

but back on topic... just look at the case and think about what would flow. what i always thought would be cool would be to take small external ports (SD card/usb) and have them inside the case but still usable.

the LCD idea sounds sweet, i also was thinking you could set it up like a big ass XBOX360, get the controllers and set it up kinda curvy, that'd be sweet, and if you have one, you could put it right next to it tooo.

hmm, well im getting an xbox 360 pretty soon, and i already have a plain xbox and i was thinking maybe do liek a "Double case" kinda thing were ihave my computer and the xbox(original xbox 1 not 360) in one case but will the heat be too much?

dude! get an extra video card and hook up the xbox to your computer monitor and shit, do a double case (just put like 2 240mm fans inbetween the motherboards)
