Some of you might recall me posting a thread a while ago, on how the DS lite has been sold out in Canada. Well i managed to buy one that was part of the first shipment of the DS lite in North America (i had to drive 40/50mins) but when i bought it the system was flawless, but the charger made a buzzing sound.
So then the retail stores recieved 2nd generation DS lites (by 2nd gen i mean after the initial amount that was made)... i bought one to and to my suprise the system when on mute made a buzzing sound, and the bottom touch sensative screen, had a MESH effect. The white was white, but it had this weird effect (kind of when u view items behind a window screen). And then upon closer inspection, i noticed that when using the stylus and pressing the screen, the actual top layer of the screen (which is touch sensative) was infact a different texture of the other one. So i took it back and got a refund.
I am VERY VERY happy with my DS Lite, but i believe that perhaps because the demand of the DS lite was so high, that Nintendo America was short on the touch screen, thus they had to resort to another brand. Or it couldve been a faulty system.
Unfortunately i no longer have the system with me, and no pictures. But a way to test ur system, THE GOOD DS Lite, the top and bottom screens are IDENTICAL, the colors and clarity are exactly the same. With the BAD DS lite, the bottom screen when displaying the color white (or any other color, but more visible with white) appears different than the top screen.
