I have 4 currently lined up by years end:
Lost Planet
Dead Rising
Mass Effect
Gears of War

what else is coming out BY CHRISTMAS that is looking to be as good as the above titles?

Doh, I just realized Mass Effect is 2007. Feel free to elect 2 titles instead of 1. ;)

Won't be 2006 but Alan Wake will make it worth your purchase

I'm looking forward to Saints Row, but I wouldnt say it looks as good as the titles you listed. It does look fun.

well you should look into

"Too Human"
and possibly "The darkness"

my 360 list;
Gears of war
Too Human
Lost planet
Mass effect
The Darkness

i do believe Too human is the first to come out out of all of these. though im not buying my 360 'til gears come out.

(if these games came out on pc i woulndt even buy a 360, hense why bioshock, prey, time shift, and alan wake wont be found on my 360 list, which all look like great games. **prey was a good game even for how short it was.**

also if assains creed does make it's way to 360 (which i hope it does.) that is another to the list. ^^

Too Human, according to rumours, is being pushed back to 2007. And that's a good thing, too - the E3 build was atrocious. It needs a lot of work to make it anywhere near its admittedly great potential. Funny how many people are finding it difficult to name 5 must-have AAA titles (especially that are exlusive) for the 360 coming in 2006 - how is this console supposed to drown out the demand that may or may not be there for the hyped-up Wii or the PS3 and its massive fanbase? Gears of War isn't going to quash system launches.

Gears of War (Should be at the top of everyone's lists)
Saints Row
Dead Rising (Iffy, but perhaps)
Blue Dragon
Mass Effect
Bioshock
Forza 2

...to name a few.

...name 5 "must-have AAA" titles for any of the systems that will be coming out this year and you deserve a cookie.

You really need to stop trolling threads related to the Xbox. It's getting pretty damned old.

Dude, even if your not a boxing fan (like me) Fight Night 3 is absolutely awesome! It's very fun, the graphics are great and it's out now.

  • Dead Rising
  • Enchanted Arms
  • Gears of War
  • Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
  • Lost Planet
  • Ninety Nine Nights
  • Saint's Row

Great games already available:
  • Burnout Revenge
  • Call of Duty 2
  • Condemned
  • Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
  • Hitman: Blood Money
  • Kameo: Elements of Power
  • Prey
  • Project Gotham Racing 3
  • MotoGP 06
  • Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis

  • Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting
  • Texas Hold'em

Is that enough? :p

I have one that will make you go and get 360 today, yes that's right you will run to the store like crazy, this title is solely worth spending 399 for a powerful console that is 360. HA! I already see you have goosbumps so I will no longer have you wait in anticipation for the title... the game that I make so much fuss about is Teh FROGGER.

Aside from your rude trolling comment, you're asbolutely right. There aren't 5 must-have titles for any of these new systems. And that's the PROBLEM.

But, as per usual, there is a hole in your argument. While the other 2 systems, especially the Wii if it continues with its current momentum, will be feeding off launch hype alone (let alone the 2 or 3 AAA titles that the Wii and the PS3 *do* have)... what I'm trying to say is not "doom and gloom", but "the 360 needs more than Gears of War" come fall to combat 2 system launches. That's not trolling, that's a reality. GoW is destined to become the fourth million+ seller of the system (and it may move another half million systems), but the only other title listed in this thread that has anywhere near that potential is Forza 2, and it's not out in the fall, and in my opinion can't hold off entire launches.

If Halo 3 isn't reason enough, I don't know what is.

In order for that to happen, Halo 3 would have to be pushed back about a year. I don't think fans of the game would appreciate a rushed effort.

I was about to say, Halo 3 will be a system seller for sure. But for this year, Gears of War and Rainbow Six Vegas will be system sellers.

Saints Row could easily be the "one." GTA with better action gameplay and flshed out MP is the word on the street and that sounds good to me! If GTA controlled like regular 3d person action games it had the potential to be better. I just ordered my xbox last firday from Overstock but now they are OOS. I got the system, plug and charge kit, extra wirless controller, and Burnout for 442 because of 12% off, and i think I should get additonal cash back from fatwallet to the tune of ~$15 (4% of 442 but like above i don't think burnout counted - software).

Forza Motorsport 2. Also, have you played the 360 version of Ghost Recon? Much better than the last-gen version, and possibly the final push towards getting a 360.

Heck, I can't wait till Forza 2 comes out. This is a guess, but I have a feeling that game might be a must have if you like racing sim type games. We get a hot next gen racing sim to play, and the other console people still have to play with their old Grand Turismo or whatever is popular for those consoles right now.

i love the constant trolls that inhabit all these xbox threads specifically because they cant afford the system and/or trying to promote a Mario game to 26 year old like myself....

...sorry bro... aint gonna happen.

There is so much wrong with this post that it's not worth the extra effort required to point it out. I just did a search for "Mario" in this thread (and "mature" - certainly found nothing in your post) and the only post I found with the word "Mario" is yours. Sorry "bro", but Mario isn't coming out on the 360 - nor is it coming out for the Wii in 2006. Every portion of your argument is a dead one, and you did not at all contribute to the topic at hand.

I just looked through a list of the titles that "might" come out 2006, and found that the Live Arcade interests me more than anything, and that Saints Row (yet another GTA-ish title) does not. However, I did enjoy Forza on my XBox - so that would be a "maybe" if I were to get the 360. But I did not consider it a AAA title, it was more like an A title.

Hold off a launch? Are you out of your mind? There is no way that any game that comes out can hold off the launch of either console. Both the Wii and PS3 launches will be sold out in the pre-order stage, that is a fact. What MS needs is a decent enough line up of games to make it a reasonable alternative when people can't get their hands on a PS3 or Wii because they're out of stock. I'd say MS has that already.

I think that if Halo 3 were ready to come out in November that it could hold off a launch. Sure there are perhaps some better franchises out there, but Halo is the single largest juggernaut in American gaming (not worldwide, just American). You cant argue with the hundreds of millions of dollars Halo2 raked in.

However, I do agree with your statement that the Wii and PS3 will sell out no matter what, partly due to demand, greatly due to the fact that there is hardly ever enough hardware supply at launch. The goal of MS should be to get those moms and dads to walk out of the store with an X360 for timmy when they couldn't nab that PS3-thingamawhatsit he was crying for.

I partly agree. I actually think that the release of Halo 3 will be a second launch for the 360, at least in the US. If Halo 3 was launched at the same time as the other systems, it would be like a triple launch. But that would probably be a bad time to use that ace. The best time to use it is when all 3 systems are out and they are stocked on shelves. That's when you need something extra to get people to buy your system. I know a lot of people who are holding off on the purchase and are waiting for Halo to come out. This holiday, the 360 will sell because it will be the only next gen system readily available, next April or May or whatever, they're gonna need something extra. When Halo 3 launches MS is gonna have no supply problems with the 360 and units are gonna fly off the shelves. I wouldn't be suprised if the launch also created a considerable up-tick in the sale of HD TVs.

While I agree with your overall assessment, I have to point out that Halo 2 only sold about 7 million units. That's similar to the sales of Nintendogs, and just over half of what Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas sold for *just* the PS2. While Halo has an incredible group of fans, it is not the biggest juggernaut in North America. It IS, however, the biggest juggernaut for the 360 and will definately move units like crazy. It will likely get pushed back to next Christmas, however, if it doesn't make the spring shopping season.

Mind you, Nintendogs was a global thing, but GTA:SA was a Western-oriented title much like Halo is, and still managed to sell more units on that single platform. In fact, all iterations of GTA, aside from the most recent one, have nabbed sales of over 10 million each on the PS2, so I'd call that one a bigger juggernaut in the worldwide market. This time around, however, there are no advantages for that franchise on the Sony platform.

My understanding was that Halo 2 sold 14-15 million worldwide. I don't know where I could find those numbers, but I wonder if those numbers were for Halo 1 and 2 combined..............

Yes, the halo franchise has sold about that when you combine them. Look up the tallied sales figures at Wikipedia, for instance.

While not disagreeing with your point, you also have to realize that there were a LOT more PS2s in the market at the time GTA:SA launched than there were Xboxs when Halo 2 launched. GTA is no doubt a huge juggernaut, but a much smaller percentage of PS2 owners bought that game as compared to Xbox owners buying Halo 2.

With Halo 3 there will likely be as many 360s on the market as PS3s (speculation, I know, but I doubt if PS3 will PASS 360 before that time, even if it does catch up). So undoubtedly, Halo 3 will sell in huge numbers, likely larger than even GTA4 on the PS3.

Its all really speculation, but I am just hoping that there is an leveling out of the systems this time around. I fully plan to own all of them and I think competition is nothing but great for gamers.

GTA4 won't be that huge a hit for Sony, they don't have exclusive first release anymore. It should be coming out on both platforms at the same time.
