The game is for PS3/X360. And these are not realtime screens.

Give the man a prize! Let's come back to this thread when there are real screenshots. For this multiplatform title.

To be fair, they still are eyecandy and do look nice. :)

But they may as well be screens from the latest Pixar movie.
lol true, but they do give an idea of where they are trying to go. If it wasnt for the perfect AA/AF applied to the screens, and the individually placed rocks, Id say they should come close to that target render.

It looks like actual gameplay with pre-rendered overlays. ie: they took actual in-game tracks and models, applied insane amounts of AA/AF, polished everything up, and then released screens. Looks nice, but, like others have said, I'll wait for the real stuff. ;)

You know, it would be nice when eventually we start seeing games that actually look like that. Maybe then the endless quest for console power will end. :D

I remember when people said that about PGR3.

Go away, troll.

Actually if you guys took the time to read the IGN article it says these shots are using in-game realitime assets.

Nice try though.

There is quite the difference. Lack of AA, the tires are blocks, the backgrounds lack AF... I don't think he's trolling if he's right. Developers have to stop capping screenshots from intro movies, otherwise Gran Turismo 4 would not have needed an "HD" upgrade since it looked about as good. Likewise, people have to stop posting photos of such things. Killzone, anyone?

You can see polygonal seems, those are for sure what reatime will look like, without all the heavy AA.

On the contrary. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/719/719371p1.html

Codemasters is keeping many of the other details behind DIRT: Colin McRae Off-Road very secretive for now, but we do have a trio of screens to drool over in the meantime. Note that these are concept images as it's a little too early to show any in-game content yet, but we're told that these were created using the reference 3D models that will be featured in the game. Take a gander:

Like I said in my orginal post, not realtime.

This is Killzone syndrome. They took what little in-game assets they might have, and put it through a computer to increase the polys, add all kinds of AA and AF, and display everything with higher resolution textures... not to mention seem it together at 60 fps. Bottom line: fake. As theNoid would put it, "/thread"

And while the actual game looked almost like those "concept PGR3 screens" that they passed off as realtime, they still were not those screens. As vortexpud mentioned, the lack of AA and AF, and the lower resolution being upscaled makes the game look less pretty than those concept renders. Game companies have to stop with this shit - no need for personal attacks. I'm sure most will agree that unless it's a confirmed realtime screenshot, it doesn't belong in a post claiming so.

regardless of what everyone is saying Colin McRae never dissapointed in the past graphic and gameplay wise.

They are great offroad games (never at the forefront of graphics, but never bad either) - regardless, call a spade a spade :)
