What strange, pointless things do you do in games?

surprised no one has mentioned Fable yet, hehe.

i owned just about every building i could (usually by killing the owners and waiting for it to go on sale). i then married a different chick in every city. then i got fat from eating bad food and i just travelled from city to city banging my wives and collecting rent. i'd also beat up as many people as i could without getting caught by the guards. i was a evil rich fat white guy :)

i had another character that was a theif. i had high fame, so people would listen to me, so i'd convince them to follow me away from the store and then i'd steal everything they had, haha. then a couple days later i'd sell his stuff back to him.

ooo, also, i'd get too drunk and puke on guards, haha. i'd throw/kick chickens at people.

damn, i need to play that game again, its been a couple years.

In Generals ZH I play on Easy, build an Army the size of like 95% of the map. All building, units, etc are placed perfectly on the map.

Then I build a stupid amount of units and surrond them, slowing pushing in with artillery and tank/soliders.

Granted I can do it with 4 Hard armies too, but I hate 8 hour long games, even if Im just playing around.

Remember how in Half-Life 1 you could pull the pin on a grenade but it wouldn't explode until you let go of it? I'd run around with a grenade in DM and go on kamikaze missions. It didn't work too well, except in Rocket Crowbar (man that was a fun mod, especially on crappy, poor-quality user-made maps) with the grav grenades. One time I fired up the singleplayer game and tried to see how many scientists and barneys I could get in one place. I think I got 11 or 13 in one room in "office complex". (the one where you come out of a vent and a turret attacks you while a scientist runs from a headcrab) Sometimes I'd stand around crowbaring a corpse to see how much of the ground around it I could get covered with blood. Occasionally I switch to the software renderer and bump the resolution don to something like 320*240 and turn down the brightness so I can pretend I'm playing a Quake 1 mod (which I really am, come to think of it)

TFC: I liked to build sentry guns in weird places. Sometimes even in the enemy base if I could. Sometimes it worked really well because nobody expects to find a sentry gun in stupid places. But most of the time it was kinda pointless.

Added: Oh yeah, Morrowind. I'm a packrat. I save stuff like bottles and forks and arrange them in my house. I'm trying to amass a collection of one of every type of dish/bottle/cup/utensil in the game. My friend Lisa used to steal all the spoons in towns and use them to spell out her name on the ground.

sorry for offending you.. i tell it like i see it...

You know, I've only ever heard the phrase "I tell it like I see it" as a sort of excuse for making stuck-up, arrogant posts.
Hm. this one probably qualifies as one of those. Let's see:
No offense, I just tell it like I see it.

Yup, fits perfectly. ;)

In Live for Speed sometimes I'll get bored and start driving around the course looking for places to test the F1 cars' downforce-

let's just get off it... i know all of you're think i'm an asshole.. and i personally don't care that you do.. i stand by what i think.. and that's that.. and i'm sure you will stand by what you think.. and that's that... so let's end it here..

i usually break everything that is glass in games, i also like to shoot at the people even when they are dead to see if the bullet holes show up, so i can write my name in the body.

In F.E.A.R. I make a habit of destroying every glass object and every electronic component I see. I guess it somewhat has a useful purpose of marking where I've been, but in reality I just revel at all the damage I'm causing.

In every racing game that doesn't reset you when you drive backwards, I will start a race, turn around, and try to smash into every vehicle going as fast as I can. This was great in the older Nascar sims :D

I think the problem isn't so much what you think as choosing to go up to a group of people and loudly declaring them as sick. It's tactless in real life and it's tactless here, and not likely to get a good reaction either place.
Not an asshole, though. I don't think there was much malice in it.

And we're not really contributing to the thread, true. Let's stop.

if anyones seen my thief 3 (deadly shadows) videos, you know that I like to screw around with the gaurds.

FarCry, I played through the whole game with cheats on (of course) using the sniper rifle only... was so much fun watching them try to figure out where I was.

Mafia... getting the old cars up to 90+Mph and end up fishtailing, skidding across the sidewalk, knocking over about 10 people, a fire hydrant, telephone booth, and a fence. Also have fun roaring down the streets near the sidewalk tooting my horn, and whoever jumps out in the street gets squished by my 16 cylinder cadillac... Oh yeah.

I have a lot of fun in games, Ive been playing some games over and over since ive gotten them years ago. No im not a psycopath (I plead the 5th), Im just taking a break from reality.

In Rollercoaster Tycoon, I'll build a great park up from scratch and then save. Then I'll make all the exits from all the rides all lead into a big pit with no entry signs on all the paths. Once a few thousand people are in there, I fill it with water and watch as a simple amusement park claims over two thousand lives in a matter of minutes.

Egg, that is brilliant lol.

For me, I love attacking a load of mages in the University then use my Ring of Invisibility. They're all like "Murder!!!", "Wait, where'd he go?", "Murder!!!!" etc...

I also do the BF2 thing, fly a few thousand feet in the air and then jump out. It is really fun online if you manage to gain enough altitude without getting shot. Once you jump out (make sure you're not out of bounds), you can pretty much fly to wherever you want on the map. You just have to use your minimap to guide yourself.

rofl yeah I've done some of those things. I used to run around punching kids, etc. My main attack was that huge AoE fire attack, and one time I ran around and killed every living thing in every town. Was fun :D.

I had a friend that also played Fable, who also happened to be a *huge* homophobe. He was goofing on my Xbox, looking at my stats. In it, he noticed I was 75 years old and had be only laid twice. He then bragged he was only 35 and had been laid 12 times. I was like, "Dude, it's a video game. Not like you actually get to see it."

He kept bothering me about that though, so I got on his Xbox while he was out, dressed his character in a pink dress, got him really drunk, killed all his wives, and proceeded to have sex with dozens of men. I didn't see his face when he started up fable for the first time after that, but I can imagine it ;D

In Halo 2, when you play Big Team matches, and it was ctf, me and a bunch of other people would just hole ourselves up in our base in Coagolation and just play with the guns, write crap on the walls, it was good fun. There was this one kid who sounded like he was 10, and he just stared at my character and repeated over and over: "I want your magnum. You will give me....your magnum. You want to give me....your magnum." He just did this over and over, it was just hilarious at the time. Some other kid would shoot my character just enough to annoy me, so finnaly I charged my plasma pistol and shot him with it, which takes out his shields, then I took out my battle rifle and pointed it at his head and he just said "Ok ok I'll behave I promise". I couldnt stop laughing

In HL2, its just nice to wander the whole level. You never know what you'll find. In the one level where you get the hoverboat, and your on the marshlands during sunset and fight the helicoptor boss...once your done with him you can explore. At the very end there are these 2 tunnels that stick out. If you park your boat under one, then jump on top of it you can go inside the tunnel. If you go inside, and at the end you take a left, you'll see a vorginaut chanting, and then when he sees you he gives you a very interesting talk. It was a nice easter egg ^^. Just make sure you have full health/armor, cause on the way up its radioactive and it you have to sprint or you wont make it.

In SOCOM I would reload constantly often being shot reloading for no reason.

I also have the horrible tendency to shoot dead enimies in CSS.

In CSS I've got into a nasty habbit of ruining people with 20 & 0 scores so, flashbangs are my pals in action.

Oh jeez, I get that alot in AA. It was one of the reasons I stopped play AA. CG Clan, OMG (I got banned for saying that). Christian Gamers.

A buddy of mine in Florida and I will meet for a match of Halo 2 and play demolition derby with different vehicles. Start at opposite ends of the map, go full speed, and kablooey!!!

Starseige tribes. I would ski across mountains for hours on end. Going to the edge of the map, Turning around and doing it again.

If theres glass in a game and it's destructable I would break it.

Red Faction I/II. Spend hours tunneling on the demo map. Once i run out of holes i can make i'd reload and make a new tunnel.

Final Fantasy Games. Get lvl 99. Get all the master/best weapons/items. Get all skills.

Tribes 2. Built a race/type derby mod. Would play it on ends with bots or my brother.

Tribes 2 again. Battled bots for hours on end. Just killing them effortlessly. One time my brother and I were raping a bot bad. The bot ended up flying off the map. Literally he went straight up as if he had limitless thrust. Since we couldn't find the bot my brother and I went at each other. About 20 minutes in we saw the bot coming back down. Were were astonished of course, so we head off to meet with it. Bot see's us. jumps straight up and fly's away again. Funniest thing I've ever seen game AI do. We put the fear of god into a scripted bot.

Mafia. Modify a car for better control and speed. Take it out and just cause havoc. Kill cops and run for it. Spend hours just ditching the cops.

Grand Theft Auto Series. Infinite Ammo code + all weapons. Find a good high spot. Get the rocket thrower and take every car out. Get 5 stars and continue wrecking havoc. Shoot down several helicopters. Just do this for a long time. No rhyme or reason.

The Sims. Build a beautifull house. Fill it with everything. Make a family. Then proceed to trap them in the walls or place them in the pool and let them drown. The game bored me. I only liked creating a house.

Marrowind. Kill everybody. Steal from everybody, Clip into areas im not supposed to be and kill everyone there. It got to the point where i couldnt do a single mission. Everywhere I went I was hunted. Mind you I started the game, cheated for my stats and clipped my way anywhere i went. I didn't actually play the game.

Played Ragnarok Online, Nuffsaid

Ran a Ragnarok Online server. Killed every boss. Went to every map, Had every item just for the hell of it. I had people on my server too. So whenever they went into town i'd spawn a thousand bosses around them. They would teleport elsewhere and meet up with another thousand bosses in some other town. I was just mean to my peons.

Played Lineage II. Leveled to lvl 59. Nuffsaid

Ran a Lineage II Server. Killed every boss. had every weapon at the time, all the armor. Had max stats. I did this to get the game out of my system. Just like Ragnarok. Once i did all this there was nothing really left for me. So I deleted it.

I've just reinstalled D2. I don't know if I like it as much as I used to however. It never seems as if I'm playing it to enjoy it, more that I'm playing to get this item so as I can do this and then trade for this item.

Does anyone have any good stories with D2? I think i'm going to uninstall it.

So, I thought I had deleted all my old WoW pics when I uninstalled it... thinking back on it, erasing all those old WoW memories was probably a mistake. However, it turns out I missed a few. They are pretty old, but funny none the less.

While WoW is a great game, sometimes you will run into assholes that just want to ruin your day. Here I am getting camped by a high level ganker. Bastard.

back when we were all playing quake 2 i used to find an infinate ammo server and tape down my fire button

Ahh.....In Far Cry I would just hang out on the beach all day and listen to the sounds of the ocean and the wild-life.

Hours upon hours just sitting on the beach hanging out. Waiting for the sun to set, but alas, never did.

Unless you get to the next level when in fact it would, so then I would hang out on that beach until....well I realized I was totally wasting my time and then turn off my computer and call a hooker.

In every game I have ever played, where possible, I have shot an enemy in the balls and tea-bagged a body.

Without fail.

In counterstrike source i like to shoot people's bodies after i kill them. Since the default is switching to my view after i kill them, it adds to the humiliation. bwahaha

I'm suprised no one has mentioned garry's mod. At school we would get really bored and just start making retarded stuff in gmod, this also has happened at several LANs I've gone to. One time I started making this giant robot in gmod, and it eventually evolved into two robots, with the first one raping the second in the butt. We even added thrusters to give it a rocking motion.

HAHAH good one. I still thank my brother for working on far cry and did the same. one can almost live at the ocean. I cannot wait to live virtually =)

warcraft 2. one of the best maps we made was pooltable. exactly as that depicts (trees all around and 6 pockets as mines..we'd start at the top wall off the entire board a bit down and sit back and watch the hoards of enemies sit at the wall. then the fun began

I think the OP is a little crazy but I have something to add.

In Kingdom Hearts 2 after I was fully leveled up and had the Ultimate keyblade I decided to
synthesize enough power ups, magic ups and defense ups to get each up to level 100.

So I was level 99 with level 101 strength, level 100 magic and level 100 defense.
I was like a god!

What is really scary is that I don't think there is a limit to how high you can raise the
strength, magic and defense stats. Level 200 or even 500 would blow my mind if there was
an actual difference between level 100 and 200 that is. The game may not be programmed to
make you stronger after your strength level gets to a certain level for example.

After I had attained my god like stats I beat the last battle of the Hades Paradox cup
(piece of cake) and then destroyed the hell out of Xemnas to finish the game. I ended up
with over 102 hours btw.

Tribes 1 :XtremeSki map. nuff said. and XtremeSki2.

CS, CS:S. Flashbang friendlys at beginning of map. Throw smoke grens, sit on it, and go "ooh... taco bell!!!" as the gas gren goes off. Seeing who could suicide by jumping off the side first on CS_inferno with a whole bunch of people.

SC: 350+ zerglings.. send them into heavily fortified areas and watch them get slaughtered.

Guild Wars: as a blood Necro, cast Blood rit and Blood is Power on melee chars, or pets. Arcane echoing any attunement or fast recharge spell.

Red Alert: Turret/Camo turret your way across the map to the enemy base.

You Dont Know Jack - during the 'jack attack', mash the buzz-in button, and try to hit negative half a million in score. (personal record is a bit over negative 600k)

I would try to do runs to diablo through the plains of despair into the dungeon, kill all the abyss knights hit all the buttons and kill diablo without using any hp ups, pretty pointless

when i first got into CS along time ago some people on my team called be a noob one too many times so i bought the machine gun capped mad dudes in the back of the head then blew myself up.... needless to say i was banned for life..

in Halo when i would play with my cousins online (over gamespy) after a kill we would insult the other players by pressing the crouch button like 4x on thier bodies (making it seem like Master Chief not only killed them, but fucked them in the ass)

another fun thing in halo was to see how far you could blow up the jeep ( place like 8 grenades underneath and that thing was off)

i just rememberd the best thing, playing The Sims me and my friend used to make a really small room and trap everyone inside place fireplaces all around next to furniture and watch the sims burn or make a pool with just a diving board and no ladder. I would then take all the tombstones and make a sim graveyard. hahahha

Score aside, i make it a point to kill every living character in the game.

Haha, I didn't even remember until I read this, but I used to shoot out all the decorative, destructible monitors in Descent/Descent 2.

Descent multiplayer: I always had to talk up the game to get anyone interested, and then had to 'train' them to get used to the movement and 3d circle-strafing. The way I knew when they were getting ready to take me on seriously was.... when they were able to kill me before I blew them up using flares.

Morrowind: 'Did the Superman thing' over most of the map, looking for new caves etc. I hadn't been in. Sometimes I'd also let my levitation spell expire, fall most of the way to the ground, and then re-cast before splattering and climb again.

In Counter-Strike, every now and again I used to piss some people off beyond all reason. From time to time, I would end up killing one person a couple times in some rounds or something like that, and if the person is a bad sport (and it's CS, so the chances of them being a bad sport are extremely good) they'll start saying shit like "WTF, thats fucking bs, your gay," etc. So, every time I kill that person after that, I will seriously just drop everything and do everything in my power to fuck with their corpse, knowing that the kid is probably speccing me and getting angrier. There was one time when I did this to an especially annoying kid for literally about 2 and a half minutes...first I emptied every single round of my pistol into his body, then I emptied every single round of my primary gun into his body, then I knifed him for awhile, then I went and found another gun and shot every round of that gun into his corpse. The kid left the server in impotent rage. Probably also not very mature on my part, but god, is it ever fun to toy with people who take the game that seriously.

I fuck corpses in Counter Strike too... in fact two of my clanmembers had virtual oral gay sex behind a box in Dust 2.

In the old versions of MS Flight Simulator (before there were textures, just blocky buildings) I would record myself flying taking off, flying over a lake or something, into the sunset. Then go back and put captions in of a conversation of me and a girl I liked.

I had a "secret" airbase (you could build airports and create mountains in the older versions) in Chicago. Like I said, there were no textures, so Chicago was basically a very large brownish green square that went for miles and had a few yellow and grey blocks sticking out of it. Turned out my "secret" airbase was right on the north shore, I would've demolished the upper half of Michigan Ave.

Taking off from my airbase I would fly around in my seaplane, land over by an inlet (which turned out to be Navy Pier), stop the game and start of Wolfenstein. I was the secret agent that flew from his secret headquarters and covertly landed outside a skyscraper taken hostage...

I was maybe 10...12?

Wow, that is cool man, hahhaha. Sounds fun for that age man.

Edit: I just remembered what my sister used to do in the Sims, she would build a female character, marry the character with a man and then kill the husband by hunger or drowning and keep the money. She did this like 20 times in a row and build a house.

wenever i get bored in WoW. i either mount up and go scare the shyt out of allience lowbies and wait till their lvl 60 friends arive, or just got and explore. i ran around 2 of the emerald dream gates and watch how a group of epic 60s took down one of the guardian dragons. and if i feel generous ill go and help lowbies run RFC or WC. in CSS, ill throw smokes and flashes in the starting are for like 5 mins and get the whole team killed. ahahah
