Dude, you rock with that portable AC unit in there. When you have to have one of those to run all your equipment, you've got a lot of power in the room. So now, what unit is that, where did you get and what did you pay? I'm looking to buy one because my room just can't handle it anymore.

you're going to laugh at this.....
but, see that HP rack server.....

We just UPGRADED to those in my main office :D

Put down that tissue now! :p

That is my humble little network :)

Edit and update:
This is a netgear WGT624v2 it's a horrid peice of crap but at least I got it for free :)

Very interesting. Was that a D-Link or Netgear? My routers get very hot, especially since they are stacked. I'm still working on a good device to cool them down. I have a Netgear router I would like to open up and basically copy your idea, because I know if I can cool it down, it will probably work again. But I can't seem to get the cover off.

It's a netgear wireless G at with that whole "108Mbps" thing (forget the model number). The same design as basically every other netgear router before it. Anyway there are 4 screws that a visable on the bottom. Take them out and then lift off the top of the device. The sides should simply fall off :)

you could probably get an SKB case or similar at a music store to put the smaller stuff in..the servers might be too deep i think. or you could build one from plywood...
But here's mine...
Picture005-2.jpg

Specs:
Ortronics 48 port patch panel
Siemon cable organizer
Dell Powerconnect 2016 switch
1U vent panel
1U custom connector panel
2U blank panel
Cisco 2501 router
1U vent panel
2U vent panel
2-2U blank panels
(you cant see the rest...)
1U blank panel
Dell Dimension L600r on a shelf
then a shelf on the bottom.

The servers are too deep for those portable racks and they rare too heavy for plywood! I'm going to get a half rack off ebay and some rails when I stop being broke.

are you saying those 3 servers are too heavy for plywood? Check back a few pages in this thread and you will see my custom plywood cabinet(then again it is 4 post inside of the plywood :p ). Its around 36U and completely full.....

If I were you I would get some rails from ebay, and then attach them to plywood.... my buddy did this and it worked out great for him. I think it cost him 100 bucks total for a 32U custom cabinet.

Jeff,

Nice stuff brother, now you just gotta get some more cisco gear ;)

Thanks...want to send me some Cisco switches :)
I have another 2501 router I'm not using, and a 1600 router that is broken...

Just thought you guys would like to see the handy new modular ethernet cable organizer I have. ;)

Very nice and clean, I like it. Reminds me of my own network, to a degree...
How much would you say that ran you (in dollars)??

All the networking equipment, CAT-6 cables included, probably ran me $1,800 - $2,000. All the other computers, components, etc, etc.... well.... I don't even want to know!!! TOO MUCH :)

This is some of our equipment we use at our lanparties in Germany, partly build into some 19'' flightcases for easy transportation.

From Top:
- Synergy 21 S21195R IEEE 802.11b accesspoint
- IBM xSeries Dual PIII 1Ghz (used as gameserver)
- 2x Nortel Accelar 1200
- Athlon 1600XP (gameserver)
- Athlon 1600XP (webserver)
- Compaq Proliant 1600, Dual PIII 600 Mhz (network monitoring)

I spy with my little eye an HP Netserver LP2000r that's overheated. Hehe

Every time that red light comes on... Lockup. lol

Server works fine for me. THe light comes on because I only have one power supply plugged in for now. I need to dig up another power cord.

rack and 1ru mini itx cases are special imports from the UK

running a 10/100/1000 network core,
ipcop 1.4.10 red + blue + green, openWRT on blue interface
deb woody, pdc, ldap with samba share and rTorrent

quite noisy thinking moving the whole thing into garage later but in the process of moving houses so everything messy

Here are two dorms i've redone recently, though very limited spacing :(

To keep it OT...looks pretty good considering the space you had...are the blue bundles station or patch cables? I like the JCU colors for the jacks too.

Sacred, would you mind sharing where you find that rack? I'm trying to find something similar for my company but I have no idea what to search for. I know it is pretty popular around here too so it must be easy to find...

Thanks!
