Thx Oldie, will order soon, hope it will be A02 ver.....finger crossed...
It should be. I ordered last week and received an A02 a couple days later. Go for it, it's beautiful!

Got my A02 today! No banding and no screen door effect, beautiful!

I check my account at dell's page since I also ordered a camera. Saw another order go up. It was my revised monitor, went into the system 3 days ago, and was shipped yesterday with next-day delivery apparently. No tracking number, but I'm guessing it'll be there when I get home hopefully;) (Assuming a housemate signed for it, didn't have a warning for when it'd actually arrive).

As for the desktop and gaming mode. The main difference I can see is that gaming mode has brighter gamma, by approx 20%. I can get the same effect in my games by playing desktop mode and cranking up the gamma in my games through the game options. It's a little easier to go through the menus once and have the game save it, than toggling monitor modes.

I got my my replacement in today. I've got both of mine set up now. My old one had backlight leakage in the upper left, but the new one does not anywhere. My new one also seems to have brighter/more vibrant colors. It has 1 stuck pixel but I guess that's not bad...the original had 2.

that's a bit of a bummer.

my one doesn't have a dead pixel. i hope my reaplcement doesn't either.

do they exchange it if you have dead pixels?

Gaming and Multimedia modes arepretty useless for PC signals, they are really meant for the composite video input and correcting the video quality there.

I think you have to have 5 or more to get a replacement. At least I don't see it most of the time. I used Dead Pixel Buddy to find it.

what's this dead pixel buddy? maybe i should check mine to see if i have any dead pixels......hmm...but then maybe ignorance is bliss?

Something to note, Dell doesn't give you notice of when they ship the replacement. It shows up in your "My account" page, but you don't get an e-mail or a tracking number.

My friend had the delivery guy hit his house twice and they didn't leave a pick-up slip like they're supposed to and instead just held onto the package at their facility. If he didn't know he could check when it ships via the webpage, he may not have known for a long time afterwards.

And for those who don't know. Dell made an error. People are receiving 2007FP replacements instead of 2007FPWs.

I'm one of them apparently:\

I got my replacement, but now (for some unkown reason) my Dell Premier Account does not exist anymore...when I go "recover password" it says that there is no account associated with that email address. Also, I never got a replacement shipping label to send the old one back with, and that orange instruction sheet was just crumpled up and shoved into one of the box handles on the new monitor. I don't know what to do.

You're certainly not the only one. Let's just say that whatever faith I had, has been shaken. :(

Hey I just ordered a 2007wfp and it should be here about wednesday or thursday next week. Where do I find the "A02" or "A01" designation and information about what kind of panel it is?

The revision will be on the back panel. To see which kind of panel you have you need to access the service menu. To do that, turn the monitor off, and press the input selection button and the + button simultaneously for a few seconds, and then while still holding them press the power button. Then release and hit the - button while the screen is still black.

It will list the panel name at the top of the menu.

same here. i mean dell has good products, if they just spend a bit more on customer service they'd be great. i mean all their excahnge polciesia and everything is awesome, but they just lack the communication.

man. the dispatches for australia still hasn't started yet according to chris the mod on the dell forum. i'm starting to get a little impatient here.

Just got my 2007fpw in, Rev A01 and no banding, confirmed with the test provided by the OP. I ordered last thursday and just got it today. DAMN this thing is beautiful, but I have to box it up and wait until i get home :(

yup....just rub it in mate

lol, don't worry it will happen for you someday too. Just make sure it's with a system you really really love......:p

Hey, dudes, I got mine yesterday. And it's rev.02 and desktop mode no problem with banding.

cool whereabouts do u live? i just wanna see if its getting any where cloer to australia... :p

I just received mine yesterday. I received a Rev A00, and it has banding issues like the thread originator (Snowdog's). :( Even without the tests, you can still see it. I PM'd Chris at Dell, and he mentioned I'm on the list to receive an updated one. Dell's policy of shipping a replacment first, was a wise one.

Some way to go to your place. 2 hours time difference from yours..........actually I ordered on 22nd, and after 4 days, the 2007 coming...and I ask the sales he said it would be a02 when I ordered. Dunno if he's just lying or telling the truth...

It's the luck of the draw for now. All orders after July 5th would be A02.

Not trying to rub it in, they did a 20% price cut on the US site and people were wondering about whether or not they'd be sending rev A0's.

Ok, so I'm a little confused here... I just got my 2007fpw today, and I immediately looked at the back panel. Rev. A01. Sigh. well, just to make sure that it sucked, I plugged it in and now have it running. I went to this forum immediately and found that picture of the green fading to blue in the background (it's on the first or second page of this thread, i think) to check the banding. Oddly enough... it doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. I don't think it's quite as good as my old samsung syncmaster 710n, but I'm not sure how bad the banding is supposed to be. Does anyone have any pictures of what the bad banding looked like? Did I get an A01 panel which was simply flashed to the new firmware?

I went ahead and ordered one today. Hoping it's one of the A02 or atleast an original that has been fixed. Once I get it and have it setup for a couple days I'll let everyone know how it is.

If you are happy with your "banding" monitor there's no sense in replacing it.

Well, the banding is only noticable because I have my previous monitor set up as well, I'm just wondering if I got a fixed version or if the rev 2 is better. If it is, I'll return this one and get a rev. 2.

UPDATE: Been fooling around with the settings, and increased the brightness, which helped, but I also ran one important test: in desktop mode, this picture

http://xtknight.atothosting.com/lcdtest/purplegreen2.png

has extremely little visible banding (you have to really look for it, but if you do, you can see some but it's not bad at all). In multimedia or gaming mode, which dell says they did not fix the banding in, there is HORRIBLE banding. So it looks like my A01 monitor has gotten a firmware upgrade. One question though: does the monitor automatically switch to gaming mode when you open a game? If it does, how can I stop it from doing that, since the banding is noticeably bad? Is there anything else I should look for to make sure that this panel is indeed the updated one, and all the problems are fixed? I need to know now so that I can decide if I want to keep it or replace it.

My monitor doesnt switch settings. You can check it by going into the menu while playing a game, and seeing what mode it is in. You can change it manually, but other than that, I dont think it does change.

Oh ok, yeah you're right, it doesn't change. Then I guess mine is... ok? I mean, there's no banding, no ghosting, great contrast, but there's some backlight bleeding at the top, but only if the screen is black. Is there anything else I should look for?

yeh mate. just jokin. no worries.

Just ordered mine at around 3AM and it's being delayed until July 5th. I've never been so happy about a shipping delay in my life. Hope the issue is fixed on the A02's.
