It looks like I have two dead pixels on one of my DS screens... I'm totally dissapointed. :(

I bought it online so I just can't take it back to the place I got it from, and chances are they are already out of them. I'm thinking about sending it in to Nintendo's repair service, would they accept it or do they have an X number of dead pixels policy?

I'm curious about this myself.

I picked up a DS Lite yesterday, and the first thing I noticed when I turned it on was a bright red stuck pixel in the middle of the bottom screen.

I'm going to call EBGames and see if I can do an exhange.

I think you purchased a psp good man....

heheh of course people wont make a big deal out of nintendo's dead pixels while sony psp everyone will drag on about for years.

stop right there my friend!

sony dead pixel policy for the psp is bad ( i know it i had 3 psp before i found one without , and all because i purchase the store warranty ) while the nintendo one is clear , and simple... thats why...

and maybe because the psp cost a lot more

Yes, nintendo will replace any system with just 1 dead pixel, and they'll do it quickly. They also have a lower amount of systems with the problem. Sony on the other hand gave everybody the run around and I only know 1 person that has a PSP without atleast 3 dead pixels.

A dead pixel on a DS screen is more noticeable than a dead pixel on a PSP screen however. The higher res screen means each pixel is smaller, and thus dead ones are less noticeable to most people. (I however am drawn to and fixate on any flaws whatsoever on any screen, be it smudges or dead pixels)

because Nintendo will take care of the customer.

Just in case anyone was interested:

Width: 95 mm
Height: 54 mm

0.20 dot pitch

DS

Resolution: 256 × 192 pixels
Width: 62 mm
Height: 46 mm

0.24 dot pitch

I hate all handhelds and all LCD screens. :p

I can't use an LCD computer display because ghosting bothers me too much even on new displays, but the PSP screen is very nice, and I don't notice any ghosting on it (though I only spent about 10 min total with one). It really is a beautiful screen :) Haven't used the DS Lite yet, but I hear it is also very nice.

Maybe you weren't with it enough, but both my friends PSP's have very, very horrible ghosting. Its actually difficult to play driving games on it due to the ghosting - everything just smears. GTA was so painful to look at because the screen blurs easily, AND Rockstar decided to put even MORE motion blur on top of that!

I bought one on Sunday that was fine.
Bought another one last night and it's got 2 stuck pixels, both light blue.
One on the top screen lower right corner, and one on the bottom screen upper left corner.
They are hardly noticable. Only when the screen is black, like when it asks you to continue on NSMB.
You have to really look for them, and you can't see them at all while actually playing a game, or with the two dimmest settings, but I don't care.

I'm picky and will be returning it tonight.

sounds like they got a bad unit (or two). i have a PSP with no ghosting whatsoever, and i'm very prone to noticing it in LCDisplays. it has no dead pixels either. course, all of that is moot, since i'm selling the unfun POS. got me a DS Lite on Sunday, and i've been making out with it ever since.

HARD. with tongues.

It wasn't a bad LCD. It was just a different revision; Sony has switched LCD manufacturers several times, I believe.

Well now you know 2. Yes I own both a DS lite and a PSP. Plus, the PSP has a higher quality screen with smaller pixels.

My DS has 2 dead pixels, my PSP has at least 7. It doesn't bother me much, but you can always take it back.

2 pixels isn't much.
