Anyone have any experience with Ballistix memory and the Tforce board?

Eclipse,

If you can give me some preliminary information it be great

I plan to run the cpu at 312 HTT so some prelim mem settings for the memory would be nice ... memclock frequency, dram settings and volts

Check out that link for the dram settings offered by the Tforce 6100 for an idea of what I have to work with

Eclipse,

I am going to be puting this system together soon so if you could answer those quests, it be great

My Tforce can do 300FSb and post into windows.

I sold my G.Skills which did very well and now im , gulp, borrowing ram... I shouldve kept them...

Anyway...Not that many were even able to reach 300fsb, htt, watever...

This is my 2nd Tforce and on the 1st one i couldn't break 280... The ballistix should also pose no problems... if anything I wouldn't be surprised to see the mem outlast the board.

My CABYE 146 also can go to 3Ghz but the board won't give it the juice necessary... though it goes to 1.8 it shows in bios @ 1.6

sorry about that :p

check this out, it should be a start. i can work you through the finer details if need be.

obviously.. all sticks vary, but this really does seem to be a good compromise for most ballistix in terms of settings. the mhz may vary slightly :D

I guess the Tforce dram voltage can choose 2.6 - 2.9 or 3.3 via jumper, what do you suggest I set it at upon initial setup

I do not have a fan for them at this time

:D I know you are eventually going to ask ...BL6464Z402.16TGY - CL1116M.9B - 67003

Did I buy the wrong stuff ... I hope I did not get crap modules

This is what I got http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820148007

You have never seen the ' Y ' modules before? Maybe I am not looking at the right place ...

So what voltage should I set them to when oc ... I have 2.6 - 2.9, I am not using the 3.3v swith because I do not have a fan for the modules

Also, this board does not have all the dram settings like a dfi so would A64tweaker work on the settings the board does not have in the bios or would it be mot trying to change something in A64tweaker that is not in the bios?

yeah, those are the ones i bought. the .16TGY is on the little white sticker?

and without active cooling, don't go over 2.6v. you'll see why when you start pushing the sticks :p

changing stuff in a64tweaker.. you can. just remember that your changes will be reset when you reboot

Yes, that is on the sticker ...

Holy, these things get warm and I am not even pushing them that hard. I passed 2 rounds of memtest on the Tforce 6100 939 - 310 x 9, 166 mem divider and more or less the settings you have up there. there is no 180 divider on this bios

Since they are running only at 253 Mhz I might be able to tighted them up but this board is so different than the Ultra -d in terms of volt and temp reading that I can not even tell what I am truly running at ... what can I tighten up at this speed?

When I blow the jet engine Delta FFB0812SHE on the board they are cool to the touch. I have to find a much quiter fan that pushers lots of air ...

Eclipse, are you home ;) /\ /\

By the way I am still using the 166 memdiveer but I am now at 2.5 - 2 - 3 - 6 thanks to looking at your site

ok, I will try

What about the timings of 2.5 - 2 - 3 - 6 . I passed two rounds of memtest at 310 x 9 x 166 . The bios does not have a 180 divider. I would have to use a moded bios for that

Do you think the sticks will work on the 180 diver when the cpu is at 310 HTT because I can always install a moded bios?

I can not get the system to work 300 HTT 1 : 1, It is the memory. When I have tried I kept the sticks at 2.6volts and have not raised it because I have no coolong for these hot mofos. DO you think it is not enough memory voltage is the reason why I can not boot at 300 HTT 1 : 1

In the Newegg reviews a lot of people claimed they had good results with 2.8v. Try 2.7 at least.

can you do 2.5-2-2 at your current speeds?

using a 183mhz (11:12) ratio should put the ram at 271mhz.. 2.5-3-3 or 3-3-3 may be needed for those speeds

and for 300mhz, 2.6v won't be enough unless you've got godlike sticks. keep em as cold as you can and 2.8-2.9v should be acceptable.

Any tips on taking images of these shiny compnents ... they seem to blow out and I do not have pshop to correct them

At 183 memclock I triied 1T, 2336, 3336, 2.6voltts, 2.7volts, and 2.8volts ... no go

Then I tried 2T and success ... is this normal for 310 x 9 x 183?

I think these are crap Ballistix ... they should work at 1T at 271 Mhz ... my Gskil UCCC do

What do you think Eclipse?

2T is more a function of the mobo and memory controller... not the ram

probably the mobo in this case. does 300mhz work at 2T?

I will try but I am pretty dissapointed that at 271 Mhz these Ballistix wont work at 1T eventhough it is the board

I am going to try something though. I am going to set HTT at 271, 1T and all memory timings to auto ... hopefully I can get in to windows and if I do I will see what the board automatically set by using A64tweaker ... then go back to 310 x 9 x 183 and put those timings in and see what happens ... have you ever heard of doing something like that, do you think it will work?

I just updated the bios, now this board has %99 of the Ultra - ds options

By the way, I am trying to take some pictures of the sticks for you but they get washed out by the reflective material, got any tips for producing nice clean pictures like you post

it might work... it's worth a shot at least :D

for taking good closeups, don't use a flash, use a bright halogen lamp or something, and use macro ;)
