Whats the most powerful card i can run with a 300w psu, i dont know anything about the rails, just assume that they are nothing special. I currentyl have an x800xl

It really depends on a number of factors....what quality is that 300w? How many hd's and optical drives? Are you oc'ing/watercooling have a gazillion case fans?

i wouldnt go any higher than a bitboys 3dglaze. but thats good enough to run anything, especially in tli (3x 3dglaze in series).

pentium d 2.8 ghz 1gb ram, an answer would be nice, like i said before running an x800xl have a average unknown 300watt psu and i have pcie slot and i want to know what the most powrfu card i can run is

im my windows task manager my commit charge is 450/2445 if that means anything, to me it looks like im using next to no power

That isn't measuring power consumption. Use the calculators in the link that I posted.

Required PSU capacity:
3.3V 12V -12V 5V -5V +5VBS
Required Output A A A A A A
Suggested Output A A A A A A
24V 12V1 12V2
Additional Request A A A A A A
Specail Suggested A A A A A A
Total required output wattage : W
3.3V + 5V Max A or above W or above
3.3V + 5V + 12V Max W

I wouldn't go much higher then what you have. In any case PSUs are cheap, just replace it with something that can handle the load. Normally you can pick up a nice PSU for about $100.00 or you could get a cheap 450 watt for well under $40.00.

Um yes actually you can run it on a good psu. 7900gt's aren't power hungry at all. Best bet would be the 7900gt as it's around 60 watts or so. However the real killer is the pentium D. If it's a 9 series pentium D you will be fine, 8 series.... you might want to upgrade the psu. the 7900gt consumes less power than the 7800gt.

Get a new PSU, period. That thing probably isn't even putting out 300W and it's probably undervolting like hell. I wouldn't hook a toaster up to that thing, its probably going to kill any hardware that goes near it. Get a decent PSU, end of story (OCZ, PCP&C, Enermax, Zippy, Antec)
