i recall hearingabout 2005 back light bleeding, but i honestly dodnt recall reading as many threads about it as i seem to be about the 2007 banding issues.

Also i think the banding issue is something that would be more noticeble then backlight bleeding - pending on your usage of the LCD, for me i didnt watch moves on my computer, i played games and did alot of web stuff, not many things that gave me an all black back ground where i would of noticed back light bleeding.
 
I'm picking one of these up tomorrow, I talked with a sales rep a little while ago and he said this price will hold until Wednesday....so if you're a gettin....better git soon :cool:
 
I am annoyed the price is so cheap already

I just got my 2005s last month as i figured these would hold a good price for a while. Plus the specs were real similar and the 2005 would have had all the bugs worked out, vs. a new product...

oh well...

I wouldn't count on prices staying this low, if you noticed out of the Widescreen 20" and higher, only the 2007FPW is the one with the bargain.

Edit: I've decided to sell my 2005 and 2007 FPWs and go for 2405FPW instead.

Edit again: I told you, now they are back to $459 + TAX + S/H. :eek:
 
Although Home and Home Office does not have this deal. Small Business does: LINK!! :D But I don't know for how much longer.

Home has it. Get another 35 off by buying a coupon on eBay for about $1.
 
Has anyone tried the firmware update?? I will try this when I get home, although I'm not fully sure if I even have this problem.
 
Nice that dell acknowledged and fix and didnt compltely ignore it like the other LCd back lighting problems

As for price, the viewsonic is sitll $344 :D.

I dont believe this is a firmware update you can flash yourself. You have to get a replacement from Dell.
 
So who has gotten on the 2007wfp recently? I love everything about the monitor except the issue with color banding obviously. Has anyone ordered recently and recieved an updated unit?
 
I should have mine Wednesday. I sold my 2005 recently because I didn't know I was going to build another PC again...otherwise I would still have it. Hopefully it will be as good as my 2005 was.
 
Got banding issues on mine. It's going back maybe tomorrow. Getting my money back and not buying another. The customer service just sucked!

All you have to do is contact Dell about the banding issue and they will send you a new one with the firmware updated. Dell has advanced replacement on their LCD's and they cover all shipping charges. You wont find service better then that.

The guy I talked to wouldn't offere me an exchange. He said I can only get my money back. I told him about the 21 day no questioned asked return policy and he said it didn't exist. I had to talk to him for about 20 minutes before everything got cleared up. He had to call another department and ask them about it. He said since my self test works on my monitor everything is fine, and INSIST it's my videocard or computer compatible problem since it wasn't a Dell. I even told him it's been in the news that that 2007's 2407's have banding issues and he still insisted it was my videocard or computer compatible problem. I can only get my money back, so I'm doing that.

When you talk to a rep from customer service from any company you should just hang up and call back again if your getting an answer you know isn't right. Just because a customer service rep say something doesn't mean its true and especially when you're trying to get a deal on an item or a pricematch or something you should try with more then just one rep. I just received a 2007wfp this week and already put in to get one with the updated firmware.
 
They are finally sending me another, but I had to go through hell to get it.

She tried to tell me the optimal resolution is 1600x1200, but every piece of paper/cd that came with the box say 1680x1050. She told me to do everything the last guy told me. She asked me to hook up my dvi cord to another monitor and maybe that's what is wrong. I said I don't have another that has dvi, so I can't do that. She asked if I had ANOTHER monitor and I nicely told her, "M'am, I bought this monitor because it is DVI and the price was great. If I wanted an analog monitor, I would of bought one about $150 cheaper, but I didn't want that. I wanted DVI."

After about 30 minutes on the phone I told her "M'am, I know you're doing your job cause I worked in something just like you're doing, but I'm losing my patience and I just want to know if you can send me another monitor or not. If you can't, tell me how I can get my money back because I'm tired of talking and Dell reps telling me wrong information. You tell me the optimal size is 1600x1200, but it's not. You said you got that from the manual, but everything I has says otherwise. There is a 1600x900, but no 1600x1200. I don't need to update my videocard drivers because they are up to date. It's been in the news that the 2007's and 2407's have had problems. Moderators on your own Dell forums have stated this, and if you would like I can give you the hyperlink. I'm not trying to be mean, but this is getting rediculous" She apologized, put me on hold for another 10 minutes and said she'll send me a new one.

I didn't blow up on her at all, but I wanted to after she put me on hold for those 10 minutes. If my next one has same problems, I'm not sure if I'll keep it or return it, but my 21 days ends on June 9th. So does that mean the last day I can send my new one when I get it, will be June 9th, or it has to be there by June 9th?
 
damn. I missed this one. Any1 know when dell will have these for sale again. I need one of these monitors ASAP.

I hope you get the good revision, because the replacement they sent me last week is still the old A00 revision. Needless to say I sent it right back!!

Where did you request your replacement through? If you just called Dell for a replacement then that should be expected. You have to contact the mod on the Dell monitor forum to specifically request a newer revision replacement. I just got mine today. I'm going to check it out here in a minute.
