Hey guys my computer doesnt have the wireless router, that would be the pc downstairs. That pc is my parents and has nothing on there of mine. Will I be able to share my xbox and pc through maybe usb or my wireless card? Thanks!

I don't understand what you're saying? Is this computer hooked up to your network? If it is, you can install the media connect software and stream it to the xbox via wireless reguardless if your pc is connected to the wireless router or not. Now your xbox will have to have a wireless adapter, or you'll have to run a cable from the xbox to your router's switch.

wow zinn, you need to calm down. Ok so im not the very network tolerent. So can we rephrase how to connect to x360 thro0ugh my wireless card.

I AM CALM!!! I AM COMPLETELY CALM

you can't connect your 360 through your wireless card in your PC. simple as that. you can either run a cable downstairs or spend $100 on the wireless adaptor

Okay let me ask some questions to get some more details from you.

First, can your computer (the one without the router attached) communicate with your parent's computer (the one which has the wireless router)?

If so, then all's you need to do is either buy the official microsoft wifi adapter, or even go out and get a linksys wireless bridge. Then from there, your xbox will be on the network and you can stream music and pictures from your computer to the console. Let me know what kind of configuration you have.

Well obviously, im connected through to their router and can go on the internet. Its a verizon dsl/router (its 2 in 1) and im not sure how I can connect to the router so i can get files and stuff. Any ideas?

What OS are you running (the exact one)?

Just out of curiosity is it the Actiontec or the 327W router?

i haven't tried this with the 360 but it worked fine with the orig xbox so it should also work for 360.

connect the 360 via cross-over cable to the pc (requires Network card) and use ICS to bridge it to the wireless network.

Zinn, Cool it.

If you can't post in accordance with the rules, then please don't.

So is there A diagram that can show me this. My wireless card doesnt have an ethernet plug... Its actually a notebook card plugged into a pci adapter.

Cheaper than the 360 adapter, and allows you to hook up more than one device.

My friend has this. It looks sleak. Would I disable the router built into my dsl? And How can I view my pc files through this? Thanks

EEEeeee! Netgear!! I had an RP614 or 604 wired router and the GUI took 10 years to update. Oh what an awful experience. That said, are any of you running your 360 wirelessly from a device other than the $99 usb adaptor thing?

I ended up just wiring under the carpet and that's worked well, but I'm just curious what you've all done.

Okay, i'll say it again. What you need is the microsoft wireless network adapter. Since you don't have any networking experience, I don't recommend buying a 3rd party bridge. Paying a little more for the official adapter will save you a headache.

What you're going to do is go into the network setup blade on your 360 dashboard and have it scan for your wireless network. It will find the name of the netword (SSID), and if your network is open, it will connect, otherwise you will need to put in your (WEP) encryption key if that's how you set it up.

Once that's done and you're connecting to the router, install the Windows Media Connect software (which is free and can be downloaded from microsoft) on your computer and configure it to share the folder where your music and/or pictures are located and your xbox will be able to see them.

There, done.

Oh hodgepodge! Wireless networking's cake. Nothing ever goes wrong.

Getting the 360 to work reliably with a WAP54G in repeater mode just about popped my brain. :p

okay I mean thats obvious what u described. But you skipped over an important fact. MY pc doesnt have the router/dsl my parents do. And I wanna share MY pc which is in the same room as where my x360 is gonna be.

Can your PC connect to your parents pc? How does it connect? wireless or wired? If your PC can connect to your parents pc, then your xbox can see your pc. That would be a network..

Your PC doesn't have to be directly connected to a router... as long as that computer is on the same network, you will be able to stream content to your 360.

Well my pc is conected to the ROUTER connected to their pc

Right, so that would make your computer connected to the NETWORK, which the xbox 360 would do once you add the wireless adapter... then the 360 will be able to stream the content on either your computer, your parents computer, or any other computer connected to the NETWORK.

alright cool thanks. Im going to use my nyko net extender til i can afford that wireless adapter. thanks
