Well, sum1 got some in game footage of the upcoming BF2142 at E3.....Looks promising...I hope it doesn't end up being some added on pieca crap to the BF2 engine...But, it does look like it could give some good multiplayer experiences....Check it out->BF2142
 
On-topic: Cool video. I have some hopes for this game. I'm sure EA will find a way to screw somethin' up but it looks interesting.

uhhh...ya if the "fu*fileplanet quote was due to there stupid active x control install just to

download...then ya I agree..but if u used a little patience, and clicked around you would

have seen a listing of some different mirrors, that auto download zip files, and I

downloaded it in about 2 min...

Cant wait for this game, i hate the summer there is never enuff quality games released during the hot months.
 
Fileplanet does suck. If someone feels like saving it from fileplanet, uploading somewhere else with no registration I'll watch it :p

Huh? It took me a few seconds to start the dl, and under 5 mins to get it. Its 20 mins long...

It looks like they're playing in WS, but thats what they did with BF2 as well if I remember right. I wish they would stop being lame and do a real WS res.

edit, one thing is for sure, customization is key, and a big part of this game.
 
I'm just hoping the X360 release is the same as the PC, not stripped way down like BF2.
 
Only took me 5mins to download with the non-fp link.

Anyway, this game looks ok but I'm really not looking forward to the BF's series of traditional line of bugs and waiting forever for patches. I'm also not looking forward to more booster packs and 15 million expansions. Thanks EA. *sigh*
 
Wow, spending $4 a month for unlimited server access is the best thing I ever did with Fileplanet, I had the file in less then 2 minutes. Screw you little shit heads who want everything fast and free, aint real life a bitch?

What do you mean by customization? and how its a key part of the game? like modding or selecting your weapons kit in more detail than any previous BF game?

Widescreen. Dice has been very lame about not supporting it.

I mean you can customize a lot of things about your gear this time, not just the gun. Different types of mines, and lots of other gear. Watch the video to understand better.

Reproduction is the bitch. I remember back in the 90's when just about everything on the internet was advertisement free, and every single service you can imagine from fileplanet downloads to website hosting was completely free with absolutely no catches. Those were better times.

But $4 bucks a month ain't bad if you're into downloading that much.

Who would pay for downloads? What you are living is not "real life." 99.9% of what you are paying for, I can find for free. Welcome to the real world-- where money will not solve your problems.

On topic: I downloaded my 170mb file in less than 2 minutes also.
 
FP is worth it to me, because I consider my time worth more than a few dollars. With FP, I do not have to look for anything. I simply go to their site, and download. Everytime some big demo gets relesaed, there are always posts from people who cant find it, get slow speeds, or something else. They waste time looking for someplace to download them, I dont have to. Im playing the game, and they're still looking. Saving 10 minutes from looking for something, for a few dollars is easily worth it to me.

Not to mention all the betas of games that FP members get to try out. That alone is worth the few dollars is costs.

Post reported. Uncalled for, and simply ignorant. The fact is, people still play games in the summer time, and the Summer has much less games than the Fall/Winter months. You cant always be outside, and suggesting that if you're not that you're fat or a loser is simply ignorant.

No Im pissed cause I used to have one but cancelled it in Apr '05 and found out 9 months later that I was still being charged for it. When I complained about it they refunded me 1 friggen month, even though I still had the cancellation number showing it was cancelled back in april. So Fuck fileplanet.
 
Ok, this thread has gotten off topic a bit.

I for one am looking forward to 2142. From that video it looks to be pretty cool and I'm really wanting to try out the Titan mode. It looks like it'll be fun.

Then there's the customization with weapons and what not that adds that extra bit to it.

It's not the only game I'm looking forward too (ie Quake Wars) but this is one that I think will definitely take up a lot of my time. Hell, my wife will probably think I've died with the time I'll be spending on 2142 and Quake Wars since she won't see a whole lot of me!

Sure BF2 has it's share of bugs/quirks and it appears as if they're really not all that set on fixing most of them but it's still a very fun game. I think 2142 will also be a very fun game. I don't think 2142 will have the same bugs as BF2 but it will have it's own different set of bugs. It's not very often a new game comes out that doesn't have some bugs.

To me, from that video it appears as if 2142 does deserve to be a whole different game and not just some expansion pack or add-on for BF2. There is enough that is quite different whereas like with the Special Forces expansion pack all they did was add a few new weapons and maps. Don't get me wrong, I like the Special Forces expansion but it definitely was still just BF2 and therefore worked as an expansion. 2142 on the other hand has new weapons, new armor and aircraft and other vehicles, a new game mode and all the customization. Just for those reasons alone it appears to me to be quite different from BF2 but still have some things in common with BF2.

Anyway, I can't wait for it to be released or at least for a demo to be released.

I will -

1. AA missles enjoy spiraling into nowhere when fired near trees
2. AT missles still fire double and sometimes through the vehicle/armor
3. Sniper rifle zoom will disable without toggling it (you zoom and it zooms out on its own)
4. Invisible "wall" on Dragon Valley 64 north of docks - instant death
5. Jet bomber missles will auto-lock onto friendly vehicles even when you have lock on enemy vehicle
6. Ban list will clear if your game server crashes
7. Sometimes friendly vehicles will show as enemy vehicles (also empty vehicles will show as valid targets when exited by enemy)
8. Sometimes you will be brought back to game menu when spawing initially at beginning of match/round
9. BF2 VOIP will sometimes mute your mic in Windows
 
Don't get me wrong, I love the game. I have a lot of fun everytime I play. I just realize that there are bugs that are more annoying than anything but then not very many games don't have such annoyances.

As for the red tag bug, maybe normally it doesn't happen all that much but for some reason the last few times I've played I've seen this bug happen. I've even been kicked from a server once because I didn't see that the driver of a vehicle that had a red tag was actually someone on my team and I killed him. Next thing I know I'm kicked.

I've also been plagued by several of the annoyances that WhyYouLoveMe posted, specifically #3 and #8 the most.

I somehow have an idea that these particular problems won't really be part of 2142. I have nothing to base this feeling on however so take it with a grain of salt. I also won't stop playing BF2 just because 2142 and Quake Wars will be out, however I probably won't play BF2 nearly as much since I'll be wanting to play the newer games.

By the way, anyone know when the next patch for BF2 and the next add-on pack will be out?

Originally EA said the patch would be mid-May and the Armored Fury booster pack late-May.
 
I played 2142 at E3 and I couldn't put it down. It was fantastic!
 
I have faith in 2142. Being made by the original, swedish/euro team rather than the US/Canadian counterparts who seem now to be responsible for the booster packs and patches, I think this has a lot more potential than people credit it with. Also, it'll probably be done very well - the player models, for example, blow the fucking ridiculous gooky Euro soldiers out of the water, and their filthy lego weapons.

Titan mode has me incredibly interested, too. Sounds a combination of conquest with an added focal assault point that looks set to get the whole team really striving toward the same goal, rather than running around the map from flasg to flag, then back again once it's been thieved by the enemy...

Oh, yeah, the APC pods looks fantastic fun too :D
 
I'll admit, I didn't give a rats ass about this game prior to this video.

Looks pretty good... and it has support for Widescreen!!! :eek:

Hopefully that's NATIVE support and not some gay "command prompt changing" Widescreen support like in BF2.

Stupid Digital Illusions.
 
I seriously hope they made the game more efficient. The menu interface is absolutely horrible for me, buttons sometimes just not working, loding itself during the game without pressing escape, and sometimes just taking a long time to LOAD a game menu. My system isnt bad at all, but BF2 makes it feel like a piece of crap. Also, BF2 feels horribly clumsy to me, which i dont know if its intended, even when I have a very good frame rate.

From the video it looks pretty good, but I wont get my hopes up too much just for the sake of not being let down in case its just as bad as BF2 in respect to what I mentioned before.
