Ipod ear buds question

Hey gang, just bought an Ipod and took it running today and realized about 5 minutes into my routine that the supplied earbuds really bust up my ears. I've used alot of earbuds in the past without any problems, and I don't think I have smaller than average ears..I mean I have a decent sized skull with ears to match..lol

Just wondering if anyone else has had probs with the stock-buds, and what you would suggest for replacements. Thanks!

On another note this is my first apple product I've bought..

My first suggestion is throwing those crap earbuds out the window of a moving car.

my second suggestion is get a set of Shure e2c earbuds or the Apple In-Ear earbuds (the ~$50 ones(i forget how much exactly))

Personally i like the sony ex71 or ex81's.

their in-ear style buds, you can get them for around $30. Pretty good, but not "audiophile" standard. They sound oodles better than the stock buds though.

I'm pretty sure I saw this a while back, but Sony released new earbuds that were even better than the ex81s (same class), forgot what they were called, but be on the lookout for them. They looked pretty cool too.

personally i think the ultimate ears super.fi 5 pros are the best made under 500 bucks. alot of people at headfi.org agree with me on that one too

I was really hoping you meant 50 bucks...

Those things better sound awesome man - they cost more than my iPod!!

I have the apple buds with the rubber on them, so much better than the stock ones

I second the Shure E2Cs. I LOVE mine :).

I've got E3Cs and like them quite a bit. Great for NYC subway where I absolutely positively do not want to hear anything around me other than music. :)

as many people have already said get some earbuds from shure...they are awesome

the only problem I have with ipod earbuds is that they rattle after awhile, if the volume is too high. My right earbud is so bad sometimes, the only way to fix it is smacking it against a wall.

My stock earbuds fall out of my ears all the time. Couldn't even imagine running with them. What I need is some old fashioned connected band head phones that fold up and not fall out. Any suggestions?

yeah mine do that too. In the winter on windy days, the wire would harden/freeze from the cold and they would just blow out of my ears from the wind. I think I'm just going to get ones that wrap(hook) around the top of my ear and behind it to hold it in place.

Original buds suck! I'm going to buy a nano next week but I will still keep my old plugs.

For headphones to workout with, i use the sony behind the head style ones, that are the sport models. Most people have the silver ones, these are black and yellow, and have larger drivers.

I also use the Vertical in ear banded ones... They fold up nice and small in the laptop bag or backpack for going on campus.

really the cheap-ish nie/philips ones are good for working out. everyone that's working out and getting all sweaty with $100+ shures, I want your job :p

they're not so bad if you put the foam on them. The rattle sound i find goes away and they stay in my ears much better. However, once yo uput your ipod in a bag or your pocket the little foam bastards fall off and you're out of luck. I got the applecare for my nano and have gotten 4 pairs of ear buds from apple sent to me because they keep crapping out. So..... i bought sennheiser hd555s instead :D

get PX100's or KSC-75's.
For in ear buds get Sennheiser CX300's, Creative EP-630's or any of the shure models (big on isolation)...just stay away from the sony earbuds

I would agree with everyone else that has mentioned the E2Cs... they do sound good, and I'm sure many of the others do as well.

But, I wouldn't drop a $100 plus bucks for working out/running headphones. First there's the sweat factor, second there's the sealed-ear-I-can't-hear-the-traffic-coming-up-behind-me problem... unless your running on a treadmill.

I'd get a cheap set for running and a nice set for else where. :p

Another plug here for the Shure IEMs... Great sound, great isolation, and very durable. Browse around for a bit and you can find them for ~$70 rather than the MSRP of $100.

Amen. I've owned or do own every pair they ever released.

I miss my E1's though. A small animal chewed em up after my mom let it out of it's cage to run around. So, not even my fault. (I check my room for stuff if I let one out).
