Dell 2007WFP or Viewsonic VX2025WM

Hi all. After reading up on these 2 for 2 days now its still hard to say becuase more poeple own the dell but not one person is clearly to happy with it becuase of one flaw which is the banding. The dell is a way more attractive and more input features plus HDDVD ready. The Viewsonic sells 100 dollers cheaper which is great but im really after gameing quality. I actually have the Viewsonic in my house right now but havent opended it yet becuase i cant decide if i should keep it or get the dell?

What are your poeples thoughts?
Which one would you pick as the better monitor for gaming?
Also does the viewsonic have a better response time since its a different tech? I hear people say they hardly notice ghosting with it but 16ms is what a own now and ghosting is AWFUL.
To bad they dont make any good 20 wide out there with TRUE 8ms or lower... under 900 dollers : )
 
I dont own the viewsonic monitor or the new 2007fpw but I do own the 2005fpw. I have owened 4 lcds so far and all other panels that I have had have ghosting with the exception of the 2005fpw. My last lcd was as samsung with an 8ms response time and it even had ghosting. There is something about dells panel that ghosting is less of an issue. The only thing I dont like about the 2005fpw is that some games dont suport its native resolution.
 
Actually how about the LG L203WT? Isnt the Dell based off this one?
futureshop is selling it for 511 CDN and ends today.
Thats really good price and cant find anywhere else cheaper

LG of ViewS is the new pick i guess.
 
vx2025.... it has not color banding issues so that is a major + in my book and i think every ones else. Also it doesn't ghost or as much as the 2007

The quality control of Viewsonics LCD' are better then Dells as well.
 
Viesonic and the Lg L203WT are the ones im looking at now.. Dont want the dell anymore.

I need to know whats better out of those 2 becuase sale ends on the Lg today.
 
Dont see any usefull information there. Really wondering what the big diff in performance between the 2 is. No one owns the lg?
 
I own the 2007FPW and I am happy with it. For gaming and internet, you will rarely notice the banding. I have seen it but only when I actually looked for it. The advantages far outweigh the tiny banding problem that non-owners are over-hyping as a major flaw. No LCD is perfect as Coldtronius has stated in other threads. The Mexican made ones are better than the Chinese produced ones it seems based on users descriptions of the problem.
 
I've had experiences with all three LCD's: L203wt, VX2025 and 2007wfp. I returned the first two and keeping the Dell. I've talked about all three so here I'll just give the reasons i returned LG and Viewsonic.
For LG,
narrow viewing angles: i.e whites looked washed out and yellowish on the sides if you centre your head with the monitor
f-engine: it makes blacks really deep and black but meanwhile rest of the colours are way too bright and unnatural

For Viewsonic
poor menu i.e no preset modes. have to adjust brightness back and forth between gaming, multimedia and web surfing
only tilt adjustment
no 1:1 scaling
X -pattern backlight bleed

For me, the only weakness 2007wfp has is banding but I can live with it.

How would you rate the ghosting on all 3?
I could have picked up the LG for 511 CDn which is great but i missed out on it becuase ends today. Plus i hear its the same as dell so i rather pay another 30 and get the extra features such as usb and hdc(what ever its called for HD DVD)
 
I couldn't notice any ghost on all three. I bought the Dell for 429 CND on one of their 7 day sale event. If you are not in hurry, I would wait for the next event.
 
I'm curious about this banding thing. I will hopefully be building a new pc at the end of June and I've been looking at getting the Dell 2007WFP. I usually play FPS games.

So, what exactly is this banding thing? I saw the pics up above posted by steveng but those weren't in game shots so I don't really see what the problem is. Also, do all the Dell LCD's have this banding problem?

I wish my budget was bigger because then I'd go for a Dell 2405 or whatever model that one is but I'm kind of excited to finally be moving away from my huge space gobbling 17" CRT to a 20" LCD and get back some of my desk space.
