Halo 3 at E3!

It's probably going to be Master Chief overlooking Earth and saying something generic, followed by applause and cheer from Microsoft's paid actors err... I mean loyal fanbase.

Yeah, people are gonna go nuts over this one because a new feature in Halo 3 is, TRIPLE Wielding. j/k?

I know theres a lot of people who hate Halo simply because of the hype. But i enjoy the games. Very entertaining. I'll prolly buy Halo 3 too. If its any good.

I dislike halo mainly because its nothing special. The only thing I do like about it is the coop mode.

Oh man, i'm so excited right now! I just don't understand the people hating Halo 2, as it was a really awesome game. My favorite part was getting to play as both Master Chief and his new ally, the Covenant guy(forgot his name). It was really awesome getting to play from each perspective as they forged an alliance. I hope to see the same. I'm hoping they answer the question about what happened to Cortana, as she got left behind at the end of Halo 2. Halo was by far one of the best FPS shooters IMHO.

Halo's kinda become a victim of its own success, and the maturity level of its average players is woefully low.

That, IMHO, should not muttle the fact that the Halos are technical and artistic masterpieces. :) They're not hugely original, but the design, production values, and gameplay make 'em great. I concur that they were (and are still) some of the best FPSes out there.

I dislike halo because of the undeserving recognition it got from millions of people, most of whom have probably never played Half Life 1 or the original Unreal

Totally can understand that--and I'm taking nothing away from the HLs because I love and have 'em both. HL is a beloved granddaddy of it all IMO. Just because the average Halo audience is...flaky...tho... that shouldn't take anything away from the actual product.

Yeah, the game was okay, I'm not saying it was a bad game, you would really have to be an idiot to think that, there are many terrible games lol. I just think of it as an average FPS, released exclusively for PC it would have gotten little recognition, released on the xbox it became Microsofts flagship recognized by the entire gaming world.

This is true. It would have been just a good shooter on the PC. I think it became an order better with a big screen, couch, and a 5.1 surround system. If you played it like that (me  ), it was a movie-like production with great gameplay and great immersion. Covenant dropships rumbling around the room... bass-full explosions... teammate chatter all over the place.

If played on 21" tv with tv speakers or with a crappy little headset or something, it would have just been decent probably.

Don't make me take pictures of my apartment ;) lets just say the stuff I have in my bedroom alone draws over 3000 watts. 250 dollar a month electric bills

Where does it mention that there is a real time demo, all I see is mention that there will be a short 2 minute movie shown of Halo, nothing else.

As for the people hating on Halo, they are the same people who hate Microsoft just because they are so large and successful. They are the same people who hate Duke basketball, who hate USC football, etc... They are the people who hate success, and enjoy the underdog or the independent. There are many people who hate just because something is successful.

Halo and Halo 2 are great games. Sure they may be simply average in some parts, but when you take the game together as a whole, and add in that special X factor that is when they become something great. That is when you get a game that is worthy of making 125 million dollars in one day producing the largest income from a single day for ANY entertainment product EVER.

You couldn't be more wrong, I dislike halo, and I hate linux. I dislike halo because it doesn't deserve the recognition it gets, and I hate linux for the same reason. Deal with that...

....half life 2 doesnt deserve regonition it gets, but since its a follow up to a great game its automatically seen as great

Half life 2 is better than either halo in my opinion, but you are right it didn't come close to the original.

Key word highlighted. It is simply your opinion that Halo doesn't deserve the recognition it gets. It is the opinion of the millions of other people who enjoy the game very much that it does deserve the recognition, and that is why it gets the recognition. Now unless you are god..... I think your a bit outnumbered.

No, it is their lack of knowledge of the alternatives.

think for a second what your arguing. Your argument is basically "I know what everyone else likes more then they know what they like."

Now sit back and tell me that isn't acting like a pompous jackass.

I agree, plus I bought it used for the PC just to try it. I couldn't stand it, I guess I got half of the way through before it got too repetative, as in everything looked the same and I kept having to go back and forth through incredibly predictable and stale level design. I never finished it, plus that flood thing was retarded and I felt the weapons were unbalanced for online. Just me, I think there are so many better FPS games that don't get nearly the recognition that halo does (...ahem Far Cry, even Riddick:EFBB)

QFT. Except that I finished Halo PC. Halo = meh (average at best). Halo 2 = meh. Halo 2 multiplayer = fun, though, and I think that's part of its popularity. They're fun to play with buddies, despite the fact that they are controlled with gamepads.

Ok, code x, this isn't a Halo flame thread, so knock it off. It doesn't matter what suport you have, because, opinion is opinion, so-deal with it.

Halo is a fun game, who gives a shit if it's been done before? Honestly, I judge games solely on whether or nut they are fun, Halo 1/2 is fun, so it's a good game/series.

lol you have some support for being a PC elitist on a PC forum site... NO WAY!

Can't wait to see what games they anounce at E3 for all the console systems. Mostly the x360 though since I already own it. Halo 3 is welcomed.

I've heard people joke about triple wielding before, but for some reason, this time I thought about mgs3 and revolver ocelot juggling 3 guns while firing them. It was pretty cool too :p

Being a pc owner and an xbox owner, both being on large screens in the living room, i thought Halo was Shite on both Formats, i didnt buy Halo 2 cos the first left me real sour. Yes it was and probably still is one of the best console fps games. But Halo 3 being announced for the 360 doesnt get me excited at all, i just want to see a decent arcade fighting game for my 360 and some exclusives that arent on the PC. With all the amazing fps games comeing to the PC fuck Halo3, the series has yet to prove itself in my eyes.

Eh, the massive support for halo generally comes from the pre-teen boys crowd and or the big group of guys who think they're "the best halo players ever, seriously, they'll destroy you at an xbox lan." I'd rather have people who: a) don't call each other "fucking fucksticks" every 5 minutes and b) are more cultured about videogaming in general, to garner support from than the afformentioned stereotypical groups.

I like halo for totally different reasons than the general populous. I'm very well aware of its lack luster singleplayer, everyone understands that much. However the story and the universe in which halo was created really speaks volumes about the production team behind it. Halo is a derivative of the Marathon universe which is known for its incredible complexity and intriguing plots. Read the fall of reach or listen to the ilovebees series and any PC gamer (who appreciates a good story) will immeadately fall in love with halo. Unfortunately, in order to appeal to the mass market, bungie hasn't been able to incorporate a relatively indepth view of the universe into either game. They choose to offer brief snipets of it, letting those who wish to explore further the option in the form of books/blogs/podcasts, and letting those who appreciate it for the gameplay be happy with just that.

As an elitist PC gamer (no really, I'm about as bad as they come) I can't stand the gameplay mechanics, the level design, the "fans"...etc. The whole thing could've been one of the greatest PC games of all time, instead they had to dumb all the wonderful aspects to it down for microsoft...sigh. Could've very easily been the next half-life, instead they sold out and became something almost sinister. Everyone always said, "I can't wait for gaming to be mainstream...". Now I just want the days back where when I mention I'm a gamer someone doesn't immeadately say "..oh like halo?"...ugh.

Incorrect. I don't care if its your opinion, its wrong.

*NSYNC had a large fanbase too, whats your point?

Halo? Eh. I don't like it. Its too slow paced and to bland for me. I preferred Killzone over it...and just so you know, I greatly dislike Sony.

Well to anyone hating on Halo 2, I welcome your opinion. But please don't state things like "Halo and Halo 2 = crap" as fact. Not everyone will agree. Personally, I liked the Halo series, and will buy Halo 3 and a 360 if Halo 3 looks to be any good. I like the story behind Halo, there is just so much depth within it, plus there's all the good looking alien ships.

My problem with halo is that it doesn't offer anything great... just more the same. Everything it does and is claimed for being so great has been done before and better. The story in the game is poor aswell, If anyone liked the story of Halo 2 then you should check into a mental institute because its far worse written then anything Steven King has ever done.

But like I stated earlier, the COOP makes the game fun for me. I love playing the game with a friend. We often "compete" on trying to complete the maps the quickest... usually ending with someone getting melee'd in the back in the head during the sprint to the "new map" load point.

(Sorry not a big SK Fan aswell)

So let me get this straight:

You dislike Halo.
Because you dislike something, that makes it stupid and WRONG!
Therefore, your brilliant point goes, Halo is stupid and wrong!

Good grief. Good luck in life. :(

I am having trouble coming to grips over who is more immature, the typical Halo player, or all the Halo haters popping up in this thread.....

As lesman said this is not the "Crap on Halo" thread. If you dont like the game keep it to yourself or take it to a PM. If you are not excited or interested by the Halo3 video to be shown at E3 then just move along.

So your basically saying that you DONT like it because lots of people DO like it?

Say if theres a global epidemic of some disease, you wont take the cure because everyone else has?

Let's get on topic guys, this isn't the "who's right-those who like Halo, or those who don't like Halo?" thread.
