Which memory would be the best choice?

i'd like to know how you decided they're worse. they seem identical as far as clocks go, from what i see :p

I think you were the one who told me that the Tracers use 5b-D while the regular Ballistix uses 5b-G.

bona, that statement depends on a lot of things.

for 512mb sticks, if you have a pc4000 part at 3-4-4, it's 5b D, regardless of ballistix or tracers, likewise, 2.5-4-4 is 5b G.
for pc3200, it's a mixed bag. both can be both, though most of the 5b D based sticks have made their way out of the channel.

for 1gb sticks, they're all 5b D right now. 5b G isn't big enough

4play, i'm glad you like what you see :D

Alright! im a little confused now about the numbers being discussed in the other threads.

BL2KIT6464Z402 <-- this is the only number I can find in the crucial site and this is what I ordered.

What does it tell you eclipse?

ohh can you please make a list of the stuff with numbers and what they mean, I know its in a post here somewhere I just couldnt find it. 5b g 5b d 16t 8 t something.. . . and so on. :)

Thank you!

that's simply the model number for the 2x512mb pc3200 ballistix kit ;)

what really matters is the few things after the part number.http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1028136406&postcount=137

here's some pictures to illustrate my point:

1_106.jpg

kinda hard to make out, but that says .16TG on the end of the little white sticker. by the post linked this means:
16 chips of TSOP based 5b G

or this:

1_87.jpg

.8TD for 8 chips of TSOP based 5b D

there's also a possibility that the sticks don't have a sticker, and are labeled by the anti-static bag they came in:

16TG.jpg

as for the difference between 5b C, 5b D and 5b G.. they're simply different process sizes with some minor die tweaks. 5b is micron's speed rating, 5ns at cas3 (5ns = 200mhz) obviously, a bit of binning goes on at crucial :D
i don't know about C and G, but the D die is 110nm. i think it's safe to say that C is the largest, while G falls inbetween (180 and 150nm perhaps?)

i would think you'd be fine. keep it cool anyway

hopefully you'll get some 5b G based ballistix. they're a lot of fun:

Thread bump again.. :)

Hey E, I finally got them ballistix after having to wait for the box to fill up for my friend, they're here!!

I got the same ones in your review/guide beautiful 5bG Sticks - BL6464Z402.16TG

wohoo!

I did 245-250 @ 2.5-2-2-6 @ 2.6vdimm, copied from your mhz vs. voltage chart.
I printed it out! heh :) it's sort of like a poster now.
