Does your's seem blurry to you? Mine seems blurry and has a stuck green and stuck red pixel. Its too bright outside to test out backlight bleed. I'm sending it back because of the pixels, but man it seems blurry compared to the 2001fp my brother has in the other room. Even my current samsung 193p looks much sharper in spite of the .294 dot pitch. And I just returned a 2005fpw last week and I remember it being much much sharper.

was just playing CoD 2 this things awesome, nope not blurry at all no stuck/dead pixels :)

Put a blanket over myself and the monitor to get a basic idea of the backlight. The top left and top right appear to have backlight bleed on mine. It took dell over 5 months to refund my money on my 2005fpw fiasco. Hopefully they refund this faster. If its still unpacked and being used tonight I will take some pictures and confirm the backlight.

mine does have a little bit of backlight bleed on the upper left corner but not noticeable at all you can actually see it only if you look at it on an angle.

I hooked up my brother's 2001fp on my comp to make sure something didn't get busted in my computer on the drive home from school, and it's extremely clear and sharp. I really hope that I received a defective monitor. I already contacted dell requesting a refund. Maybe this monitor just doesn't like my x1800xl. I will try hooking it up to his x800xl. But man is it blurry, I have never experienced this on DVI before, it looks like I am using VGA.

Thx for the scans znil78. Is there any way you can take a picture of a widescreen and/or 4:3 movie (any will do) to see how well the 2007wfp scales to fill the screen. If you can, I would appreciate it :)

If you have to go through great lengths to find the problem, is it really ... a problem? Atleast one worth returning.

Cool, thx for the pix znil78. I'm glad to see the widescreen movies filling up the entire screen. Was there anything you had to do with the monitor or movie player controls to make it fill the screen. I would hate to buy a widescreen monitor, and still have it showing quite a bit of the black bars which is far too common.

40 y.o. virgin - unchecked "keep aspect ratio" Powerdvd
saw II - keep aspect ratio checked, has about a quarter of an inch black lines tho.

how exactly does it wipe the 2005fpw all over the floor???

I have a 2005fpw and almost pulled the trigger on a 2007 fpw this week. I noticed that the 2007 fpw has a 16ms response compared to the 2005fpw's 12. I confirmed the stats with my Dell rep and decided to go with the 1907 fp instead at 8ms response. Plus I saved almost $200 ;)

But congrats on your purchase -- If I didn't have a 2005 already, I would have probably gone with the 2007.

Unless you build yourself a CR 2.53:1 display setup you will always have black bars top and bottom with many dvd's. This is becuase most 'widescreen' TVs are 16:9 (most widescreen MONITORS on the other hand are 16:10) which is obviously not 2.35:1. Most dirrectors shoot in 2:35:1 becuase it gives you a wider effect-

In other words you will never get ride of the 'black bars' unless you use a scaler (hardware or software) to 'stretch' or 'smash' the image onto the screen.

finally, this thing was released

Heh, no kidding. Been waiting a while to finally see pics of it in action. Thanks OP. Now all we need is someone to tell us if these exhibit buzzing or input delay.

Distorts the picture.

I bet it's a nice display. Enjoy it.
The new Dell design is simply sweet.

damn, now i cant decide what to do. hold out even LONGER to get this elusive 2407 (i want to use it for HDTV too) or just pick up 2 2007's for the same price as the 1 2407.

oh man, decisions decisions.

maybe 1 2407 and one 2007...

So how's the response time on it? Does it ghost like a mofo or is she actually smooth?

I'm not getting one of these Dells till I can hear that the ghosting isn't horrendous.

no ghosting at all, been playing oblivion, teh godfather, lotrbfme2 and CoD2 pretty smooth on all of em.

Thanks for testing the water and nabbing one of these early. Looks like this will be the screen to get when the price drops a bit or some coupons come out for it.

The only thing I'm wary of coming from a Samsung PVA panel is if I'll notice any worse black-levels on the S-IPS panel in the 2007? I have a 193P right now that has served me very well for 2 years now. While the responce time is a bit slow, the color reproduction is pretty good and I've been very happy with it's sharpness and contrast.

all i can say is that ive been an owner of 3 2005fpw's and this monitors black-levels are so much better.

znil78, how does the 2007WFP compare to the 2005FPW in terms of ghosting, angle of view, colors, and movies? Do you think it is the same panel, or do you think it is a new improved LG panel? I am worried about the ghosting and the twinkling effect in movies. Thanks

n terms of angle of view, colors, and movies?

its better than teh 2005fpw in all of those categories, about the same with ghosting which i didnt notice on the 2005 and on this.

got an xbox360? if so can you see how it looks on it please. If not, an estimate on how well it would scale with the 360 would be cool

have no consoles sorry. (never have been interested with consoles so i could not give you an estimate as well ) :(

Hi there,

Was wondering if you could navigate around in the OSD to see if there's any indication of the LCD panel used?

They used to have this shown for the previous models I think..

been browsing around teh osd, cant seem to find anything that says what lcd panel is used. sorry

Well it looks like i'm going to get one. I'll be the xbox360 test dummy :D
I'm sure if the monitor has an option that makes it not scale up, but leave black bars, it'll be fine

perhaps you should look into wide screen ratios and how movies are filmed to understand "the black bars" as you put it.
