Looking for a SLI motherboard. Plan on putting a Athlon 64 3700, 2 gigs of ram, and one of the higher nvidia cards in it. Eventually I will get a second video card but can not at the moment.
I have no intent on OC'ing it, use of raid, or loading the system with misc hardware other than maybe a physics card if they do well. Straight forward game box that will not be used for anything else.

I've seen mixed postings in regards to the DFI and Asus boards and I'm not sure what would be better suited for me. I have used Asus in the past and like their baords.

Am I right in thinking from what you have said that you don't want to throw a lot of money at the mobo?
If so how about an Abit KN8 SLI as it's 1 of the cheaper ($91 at Newegg after MIR) major branded nF4 SLI boards plus it's quiet due to heatpipe chipset cooler?

I guess that is a good way to put it. Basically I want something that I can expect to be stable and if there is a "lower" version without the extra features I'd prefer it. However if that requres a little extra I am willing.

My game box is for fun so I don't want to constantly be tweaking it to play games. Misc media and work I do on a different computer so I tend to keep my game box at a bare min on drives etc... Nothing important on it so raid isn't a concern.

I use to buy alot of Abit boards but the last one I had from them (KG7 I think it was) really gave me problems after about a year of use. (other boards from them lasted many years)

I don't see but is the abit board 16x for both pcie slots? Or is that use further down the road that I"m better off getting a new board at that point in time.
