2007 models on the US site now

u referring to the dell?
link? im lazy...

No mention of HDCP though, unless I'm blind. If there is no HDCP then there is little difference other than style between the two.

Did the 2005 have the ability to rescale resolutions? Could it do 1:1 with black borders?

If yes, then I'm assuming the 2007 would as well?

QFT, besides restyling (which IMHO looks way better) is there any real improvement?

We can only hope they fixed the backlight bleeding. I can't imagine they would let that problem linger.

agreed. Frankly, it would be worth a product update just to resolve the backlight issue. I'm guessing HDCP is a done deal. Even though it means virtually nothing in practical terms, there's no way they'd leave it out. The question is, what version of the spec is it? As HDCP isn't really ratified, there's no such thing as "compliant."

Now that Dell 2007 is available , I wonder how long it will take to get the 2407 out. I hope it will score as high as 2007 did in extreme review

Anybody know of any coupons that will work for the 2007? I'm in California and Dell charges sales tax on me, I'd love to knock that down a bit!

I'd love to hear what people here think of them now that they are out there... Please, anybody who pulls the trigger on one of these, we gots to know!

Dell posts the response at 16ms Ouch  why go up. The 2005 had 12ms. No improvement on the contrast ratio either. I guess this moddel only added hdcp over dvi. I was hoping for more

The 2005fpw was 16ms b/w and 12 ms gtg. Contrast ratio is rated at 800:1 vs 600:1 for the 2005fpw. Seems to be slight improvements even though its based on the same panel.

Ordered a 2007WFP. I have my fingers crossed that it comes good.

Initially, the 16ms was a concern for me as well, but not so much now. Of all it strengths and weaknesses, latency was never the big downside to the 2005FPW; it was always the backlighting issues that dragged it down. Note that this panel seems to look better on that front. Time will tell.

The review at Extremetech and an older review of the 2005FPW over at Anandtech discussed latency speeds, but indicated from a subjective and testing point of view, the ghosting and tearing was minimal. I'm intrigued by the overall package here and the potential deal to be had if some coupons come out. Right now, this is where I'm leaning. I also am looking at the Acer 2032WA, the Viewsonic VX2025WM and the Gateway 2185, roughly in that order.

Again, looking forward to some end-user reviews here.

While extremetech the review was solid, I would have preferred a fewwww more photos, since this is a DISPLAY review.

All in all I agree that really the 2005 was so perfect that there was no need to mess it up by changing everything, all it needed was a backlight tweak and HDCP, and thats what they gave it, and they since they are charging the same price for it, I think it is a great update on DELLs part.

That being said, I will admit that I was hoping for a faster panel.

I just got my 2005fpw about a month ago. Do you think if I call dell and tell them that I keep having backlight bleeding with these monitors, that they will let me send this one back and sort of pay the difference for the 2007wfp model. The monitor I have right now is pretty good as far as backlight bleeding goes. Its just I figured that dell probably used their brains a bit and decided to fix the backlight bleeding with the 2007 model.

how about a breakdown of the differences between the dell 2007 and the viewsonic vx2025wm?

Allthough from a marketing point of view it would be stupid these days not to post a grey to grey response time if it was say 8. But, do you think it is possible that this could be the case with this monitor and just giong unreported? It would seem just silly for Dell to miss the boat these days with faster panes available.

This is good news. Very good news, indeed.

Why you ask?

Same price as its predecessor; so we can infer that the 2407 will follow the same pricing convention.

Excuse me while I go do the happy dance.

That would be awsome.

I'll post this again here, as it may turn out to be the official 2007wfp thread. Although this, for whatever reason, does not appear to be an SA-IPS panel, it is an S-IPS panel, but people who see the 16ms response time and cringe would do well to read BEHARDWARE.COM's review of the 20wgx2, a new ips panel. There have been strides in IPS technology, and the old characteristics someone posted no longer apply. The panel is on par with TN 2ms panels with regards to ghosting.

Isn't that the same site that speculated that this wouldn't be for sale for another month?

The SA-IPS panel looks fantastic!

Confused about the Dell 2007WFP.

Anandtech says it is an AS-IPS panel, but elsewhere says it is the (inferior) S-IPS panel.

The AS-IPS panel is so much quicker because it has overdrive. Maybe some new owners who also have the 2005FPW can compare the response time to determine if the 2007WFP has overdrive.

Maybe the new S-IPS has a lower grade overdrive than the AS-IPS?

I just got my new 2005FPW Monday and now i'm wondering what i'll do now that the 2007FPW is out. My 2005FPW doesn't have any dead pixels that i can see but it does have the backlight leakage around the four corners. It may fade with time though. I just bought this to tide me over till the 2405FPW though so i may wait and get the 2407FPW because it will be a better purchase probably. I dont know.
