Damn straight I looked and said to myself holy crap WhyYouLoveMe hasn't posted it yet I can get a BF2 thread started before him.

and where would I get this patch?

It should be released sometime in the next few hours. Either via EA's support page or the EA downloader. And then after a few minutes every file mirror known to man.

Because the accuracy of the support weapons was not balanced to the rest of the classes. Not that I'm complaining about it, but that's why they did it.

Every change in this game has occurred because the less talented players have been the squeaky wheel.

Come on admit it, support class was too powerful. Besides it will be nice to see maps more balanced, Karkand with 80% of people running with the PKMs isn't really that cool.. I'm not whining here, I still own PKMers and I know how to adopt pretty quickly so I rarely whine, but PKM was overpowered.

I remember asking that they kick up the accuracy of support weapons a few patches back. Their damage was high, good rof, but such crappy accuracy that it was trivial to just jump out in front of it, and go prone to headshot the support guy while his gun misses from all the innate deviation in the gun. There were very few support people around, to the point where I'd have to kit switch to get ammo since I was kept alive by so many medics, but nobody was playing support to provide ammo packs.

My main problem was that machineguns are for pinning people, when a machinegun is setup, infantry should be damned scared of them. If a machinegun's arc is setup in front of you, infantry shouldn't run out willy nilly into it's fire and just expect to shoot and kill the machinegunner before getting cut to pieces. They fixed it's accuracy and made a proned machinegunner something to be feared. If a machinegunner is proned, the course of action should be to dodge the gun's line of sight and attack it from the sides or rear. This lets you fight the guy without him having the machine gun setup.

The balancing factor is that the machine gun shouldn't be instantly setup. The gun becomes the premiere automatic run and gun weapon because you can instantly hit the ground and get the high damage and accuracy immediately. That's not what it's for. You're supposed to setup and cut off the enemy, not run around through alleyways and go prone when an enemy is 3 feet in front of you.

This sounds like this'll bring the gun directly into line with where it should be.

yeah, sounds like it makes it more realistic & fair.

So do you need this patch if you've downloaded the Euroforces pack?

Yes, if you already have Euro installed just install 1.22 patch over it and you good to go. If you plan on getting Euro Force than you will have to install the patch again...

No mention of this patch anywhere on the official site, not on the EA ftp server either.

Now we'll see the Support class disappear again. I mean has anyone tried hitting people at distance with the HK-21? It's not a lock, lets just say. I'm not complaining though. I still didn't take the PKM all that often, even after it got buffed up.

I experienced that Great Wall exploit also. I joined a squad and spawned in with them and they were underneath the wall, and impervious, but could hit anyone. It was freaky. I looked all around for the hole, but didn't find it myself.

WHAT THE HELL!!!!!!!!

That'll be in 1.3.

The 1.22 patch is a "hotfix" for 1.2 AND 1.21.

Ain't it grand?! lol

i wish this game was more realistic - one shot one kill to the chest or head. I also wish medics could only revive wounded people. I wish respawn time was set to 2mins. It would actually make people care about thier 'life' and personally i feel the game would be a lot better. But, I know this will never happen so BLAH

I couldn't agree more with you about players not caring whether they live/die. I really think it would be more fun if somehow dying was really bad and surviving was more rewarding. (i.e. role playing games) The problem is that FPS land isn't about surviving and living. It's about twitchy fun and killin' and watchin' stuff blow up. I think it would be cool to have longer spawn times, but there's just so many variables to consider. Maybe if we all were hooked up to some sort of electrical shock system so that when we die we get a nice "kick". LOL

sorry dude but 1 shot kill and 2 minute wating time to respawn is just stupid. I have better things to do in life then spend 2 minutes infront of the monitor waiting till I respawn after I get killes (maybe that's why I got bored with CS so quickly)... anyway spawn campers would have a blast.. Imagine you get killed and some dude screams from the other side "Now, seat there and rethink you life, you have another two minutes"

Then people will complain more about the artillary strikes, tanks, jets, and APCs because they can kill infantry too quickly and the respawn time would be too long. Not everyone is going to be happy with the game and there will always be people that complain about the game.

A good way to handle the "I don't care if I die" mentality is to take away strategical advatages when someone dies. Example: If you die you'll loose any "combat experience" * that you might have had. The spawn time can be the same or instant if need be, but I think spawning should take place in a safe area, either from a helicopter or a boat with automated defence systems.

Anyways, just my few thoughts on the subject.... One day I'll make a game ;)

*Combat Experience - A system that gives players who complete strategic objectives such as killing an enemy soldier, reviving a friendly, or destorying objectives. Combat experience will give better stamina, less deviation with your weapon, faster reload times, better hiding ablities, as well as on-screen benifits such as enemy detection, mine detection, wind compensation abilities (mostly for sniper), waypoints that appear on-screen verses on a map and many more

While it sounds good, that kind of gameplay gets old fast. 1 shot 1 kill is fine, but waiting more than 30 seconds to respawn is unbearable. If the maps in BF2 were larger, it might be more of an issue, but they aren't.

Note how squad leaders fight to stay alive, simply because it's a pain in the ass to get in position.

This UK one you guys keep talkin' about, can we patch our US copies with it? Why isn't it on EA's US website yet?

Yes this "UK" patch is the same and/or IS the US version. EA UK published the game and is hosting the support forum.

Hey, at least they are majorly buffing up the P90 AT unlock. At least I would assume changing the ROF from 600 to 900 is gonna help it a lot. Might be worth getting it now. I know the FAMAS has a high, high ROF, and that makes it almost unbeatable in a close range (say 25 to 50 feet range) quick draw.

P90 feels better, I played with it last night and I managed to kill with it now more then before.
