Cannon PowerShot S2 IS Digital Camera $350

Son-of-a-bitch......I just bought this for 380 + 20 shipping on ebay a couple weeks ago.
 
I have this camera, I got it ~8 months ago for 380 shipped .... is this a hot deal? I got a 512MB CF card too. It's a very very nice camera, 10z optical zoom, high res, best video quality out there (just as good as camcorders as far as stats)

highly recommended.

It is 12x optical. Though I personally like the Panasonic FZ5K much better then the Canon, but the Canon does beat it in video quality...
 
my dad has one and its quite nice.

a minor complaint would be how the lens cap doesnt have a string attaching it to the camera so it always falls to the ground when youre not paying attention
 
This camera is the bee's knees! Very nice color and sharpness. The video is great 640*480 @30FPS, 12X zoom I'm very happy. Much nicer than my Canon A75. Definately recommend a fast SD card. I went with a 2GB SanDisk Ultra (paid retail for that :( )
 
I love mine, but I payed 400 for it shipped about 2 months ago. These things will keep dropping though.... the S3-IS has been announced to come out this year (May I think?) so prices on the S2 should keep dropping. This is a great deal if you dont want to wait.

The S3 has 6 mp instead of 5, a few other minor improvements. Im perfectly happy with my S2. Maybe I will upgrade when the S4 comes out someday.

My bad, i have the S1 IS. youll be plenty happy with it's successor. I hope it has the features mine does, plus some.
 
got mine at Zipzoomfly with 2 day shipping for the same price and a 1gb SD ultra2 card at the Egg for 53.00 plus 5.00 for 3 day shipping
 
this is a pretty good deal on a very nice camera. I'm gonna PM Comp USA's price @ Office Depot so I can finally use a $78 OD gift card that I've had for God only knows how long now.

now if I could only find a $20 off $150 Office Depot coupon to make the deal even better. :cool:

I'll need to sell my Canon A80 camera on ebay to help offset the S2's price some.

I'm gonna PM Comp USA's price at Office Depot and I'm going to try to use a 20% off $100 or more purchase coupon that I found at FW.

that will make the camera's price $280 if the coupon works.

Ive also got the S1 IS, and if it is any indicator of the quality that the S2 has, than anyone who gets it will not be disapointed.

I'll probably sell it for $150 shipped (in the U.S. only). the camera looks like its brand new and it does not have one single scratch or scuff mark on it anywhere. I am very anal about keeping all my stuff in perfect condition.
 
i am still on a canon a70.
im looking to jump to the 700 or the sleeker s80 or whatever comes out around xmas in comparable range.

the a70 and the subsequent series are excellent cameras. nothing but praise. my wife does some professional photography and she has the digital and film slrs and lenses (canons), so with the adapter, ive been able to add nice big telephoto lenses to the a70, and look forward to doing it with a nice 6-8mp camera.
the other thing i found was the underwater kit for only 120 since the camera is so old and our trip to the great barrier reef was that much better.
 
welp, I just came back from Staples with my brand new S2 IS camera.

I took a printout of Comp USA's $349 price to Staples and I asked them to PM it. now, I have no idea how in the hell the cashier screwed this up, but she rang my camera up at $299 plus tax instead of $349 plus tax. on top of that, I also brought in a $20 off $100 purchase(s) coupon so the camera ended up costing me $279 plus local sales tax.

not bad ehhh? :p

As do I, I love my S1 IS - I bought one and my sisters were so impressed, they replaced theirs with Canon S1 IS's also. The S2 is simply a new larger (12x vs 10x) lens, 5mp instead of 3.2mp and uses SD instead of CF. Otherwise, it's basically the same camera.
 
I was choosing between an sd500 and the s2is a few months ago... the sd500 came up for $300 on crutchfield ($80 less than anyone else) so I had to bite...

I saw an s2 in target and it looked nice, but felt quirky and a bit cheap.

I'm not bashing it... i'd still love one if I got a second camera, but those were my observations.
 
I'm still on a fuji MX-2700... from a long long time ago. Smartmedia! Ha!

This is looking good, and PM to OD sounds good too, I have a $100 OD gift card I need to burn. Though, a true canon SLR would be nice since my 1970's EOS died and I still have a few lenses for it. I'd want to be able to reuse them.
