WTF...

I've been looking at getting a E1705 for the past couple weeks to replace my 600M laptop..and I want a halfway decent video card so I can game on it occasionally. Well I'm on dell website this morning and configuring a E1705 and now the highest end video card you can get is a fucking X1400 card! Man what a rip. Does anyone know why dell did this?

Either:

1. Dell hates you, your dog Fluffy, and your family.

or

2. Dell doesn't want everyone buying the E1705 and getting 95% the performance of an XPS for 50% the price.

My vote is on 2.

Good thing the E1705 was never on my "I want" list....because that change SUCKS.

If you call them up, they might allow you to configure the system differently. Also, it might pay to check the equivalent laptops in the Small Business Dept. as they often have different configuration options available.

That would remove the vanilla 7800 completely from the Dell lineup... a bit strange isnt it?

perhaps they are just out of stock at the moment?
or another new model is coming out?

That's messed up. I was looking last night and they had the 7800 and X1400. That X1400 is still shared mem. WTF? I really wanted one, but now...

If you click "help me decide" it still shows the 7800

Maybe they're out of 7800 parts, and waiting on new 7900 parts :D

wishfull thinking....but if they do, I'll sell someone the 7800 out of my 9400.

That really sucks. Dell just keeps getting worse and worse. I'm going with option 1. Dell just hates you and your little dog too.
