Confirmed: Oblivion Ships March 20

I just put in my time off request here at the office. : ) Two whole days (that makes a 4 day weekend for me!!) of playing TES: Oblivion!!!

Actually, I will probably end up spending a good amount of time playing with my German Shephard and cleaning, but my fiance is really looking forward to a game we can sit down and play together, and this looks like it might be the ticket.

I figured it would be out soon wnet to Gamestop last night and there eta was the 24th
 
I preordered the special edition of this and a recumbent bike from amazon (won't be getting out of the house much :D)

um......its been on websites for preorder with march 20ish date....just because it wasnt official doesnt mean beth didnt tell them thats when to expect it

By that do you mean, Me playing and my Wife watching? If you can manage that, and say... get her to make a pie, and not take it out on you later. I will bow down to you.
 
Hey did anyone notice that the PC version is $10 less than the XBOX360 for both normal and collectors? Strange

Bethesda would never tell retailers when their game was coming out - all those dates they list are speculation only.

Wow, I guess the MAGICAL CRYSTAL BALLS work quite well for most of those stores then. Either that, or a lucky guess, I mean they only have a 1 in 365 chance of nailing what day it is released on.

The release dates are based on vague information released by the publisher.

So vague in fact, that the retailers have known the exact release date for the last few months,

You probably thought that because Bethesda is using Speedtree which is also middleware for Unreal Engine 3

Actually, Bethesda has always maintained the game was coming out "early 2006", which retailers correctly assumed to be 1Q 2006 = January through March 2006. Late march was a safe assumption for the retailers to make.

Or, Bethesda's reps were lying, which I don't really see the point of, since it has no upside an a potetially large downside. Had they leaded a date to the press or any retailer, it would be all over the net - including the who and the when. Mr. Hines has been pretty clear about it.

Would anyone mind telling or directing me to some information regarding the Elder Scrolls franchise? I've only heard about it, but nothing in-depth. What sets this truly apart from every other similar genre game?

Same here. This is the first game I've pre-ordered in ages.

On a side note, does anyone know what kind of copy protection this game will have? I will not play any game that uses Starforce or any other protection that tells me what software I can or cannot use on my machine.

I believe the dev's said that it is not using starforce.

hah I can relate to this, my old lady always tells me how much she hates gamin and now she wants me to buy her games for the xbox, im like right on. you can play spyro and ill frag it up online in the other room ;)
