$300 in budget for new card. XFX 256MB 7800GT seems best?

I'm planning to buy this card for my new PCI-X system.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814150108

I'm pairing it with an A64 single core, a solid Asus PCI-X x16 motherboard, and 1GB of Corsair XMS PC3200. Is this the best I can do for $300, or should I be considering something else?

By the way... this is a gaming system. I'm a HUGE World of WarCraft and Battlefield/Battlegrounds II addict.

That or the x1800xl, either perform about the same, so it'll really depend on preference...But I think I'd go 7800gt.

Here's an exceptionally nice one: eVGA 7800GT CO SE

460 core, 1100 memory, and a copper heatsink. I absolutely love mine. Over twice the performance coming from dual 6600GT's in SLI.

Has a $20 MIR on it until 2/28.

Thanks for the reassurance about the 7800. I was pretty sure it was the best deal. I'm a big nVidia fan, anyway. My XFX 128MB 6600GT AGP kept things running great for well over a year. Things are just progressing too quickly these days, I guess.

I got the green one, and I'm playing Farcry 1280*1024 All maxed out and 4xAA & 16AF, without hitches :D

*Craps pants in anticipation...*

I'm not saying that my current system isn't adequate. It's an Athlon 2600+ with 1GB of HyperX PC2700 and, as I said, a 6600GT AGP. But I've seen games on nicer systems and it's just... uber.

My fiancee wants a computer, anyway, so she's getting my old one. :)

yea, I've been using 512 while I'm RMAing my 2gb pc4000 to gskill, and I can barely play wow.

Just to add:

Here's a quick comparison with the SLI 6600GT's I had to my single 7800GT:

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
6600GT SLI: max 1024x768 SM3, AF 16x with some choppiness.
7800GT: 1280x960 SM3, AF 16x. I can go up to 1600x1200, but the game gets choppy here and there.

Half Life 2
6600GT SLI: max 1024x768, AA 2x, AF 16x, max detail
7800GT: 1280x1024, AA 4x, AF 16x, max detail. Smoother than pre-upgrade.

Sims 2
6600GT SLI: max 1024x768, no AA, no AF...still kinda choppy depending on how much screen activity is going on
7800GT: 1280x1024, max AA, no slow downs.

Far Cry
6600GT SLI: max 1024x768, AA 2x, AF 8x
7800GT: 1280x1024, AF 4x, AF 16x

GTA: SA
6600GT SLI: max 1280x768, AA 2x, AF 8x
7800GT: 1280x1024, AA 4x, AF16x

NFS: MW
6600GT SLI: max 1024x768, AA 2x, AF 16x
7800GT: 1280x1024, AA 4x, AF 16x
