WOOT: 250gb HD 55.00 shipped

Got one over christmas break, and I just ordered another one so that I can have a proper raid1 setup(at the time I didn't have the money to buy more than one). I know it's PATA and it's only got a 2Mb cache, but that's quite sufficient for my needs.

edit: Damn, the more I think about it, the more I wish I ordered more than one. :(

i bought 3. Great deal that doesn't come along often, this was the only thing i was waiting for to get my lil server box going.

Ive been trying to order 3 as well. But the first time it came back and didnt take my card. I though I might have entered it wrong. So Im trying it again and they processing is taking FOREVER!

I picked up 3x 250gb 8mb ones (not from woot)

Those are probably the older silver drives...
2mb kinda sucks balls... refurb is fine only if warrenty thru manfuactor

Last 250 GB refurb deal Woot had the drive was an OEM manufacturer drive = no warrenty support.

Would a 2mb buffer be alright for burning stuff off of?
yeah.. it would be fine.. 2mb cache won't make it much slower at all.. you could go a terrabyte for barely over $200...

In for 3.

I have 2 from December that have been working great. This will put me over 1TB. Just have to buy a few more enclosures now...

Warranty: 6 months

That kills the deal for me. Not worth spending 55 bucks if you dont have any type of warranty backing the product up.

Ive been waiting for this one to come back around, I just cant justify the purchase when I have no need for the drive. :/

It should be an excellent drive for storage, or especially for a modded xbox, though reading the woot comments it does seem that a lot of them are bad.

All things considered though, its a fine deal

Crap, sold out.

I snagged one in December and it's been running fine in my HTPC. I would have liked to grab another to add to a new external enclosure I just picked up.

I jumped on 2 of them. I'm hearing a little negativity, but I'm not going to worry about it, I'm just going to be using them for storage. The price was defiantly right.
