Is there a way to turn the DVI on the PC to component to hook up to a HDTV? Or if thats not possible how is the quality on DVI to HDMI?

DVI to HDMI is far superior, all digital. Don't even mess with the component dongle. But yes, there are adapters.

If im not mistaken doesnt ATI only produce those DVI to Component adapters, and dont those only work on ATI cards? Or am I just thinking the ones made by ATI can only work on ATI cards?

My EVGA 7800GT came with a component dongle. Can't remember if it's DVI to component, or VGA to component. Either way, it also came with 2x VGA adapters.

i would go dvi to hdmi but my tv has only one HDMI port and i wanted to save it for a digital cable box. Or is there a way to get aroudn this to, i heard there were 2 or 3 port HDMI "switches" that would go something like this....

DVD ---------IIIIII
Xbox----------IIIII--------TV
PC------------IIIIII

There are DVI/HDMI switches, however as you can tell by a google search....they are not cheap.

I wouldn't worry about what input/output (between DVI and HDMI) the switch uses since they are both the same standard and have identical image quality.

I haven't looked into switches much yet, but would like to. My PC is on my only DVI input so I had to revert my HD-STB to component. If I could find a switch that didn't fugg the signal up, I'd be most interested in purchasing it.

For those looking for a DVI/HDMI switch check out the Geffen models. Mine has been great.

I'll check it out, thanks for the tip.

Edit: $250 for the 2x1, a bit much for a switch. Gonna have to think about that, switching the cable manually wouldnt be that much of a pain :p

I chose the Geffen because it also switched digital audio on both flavors, converted between them as well. Now I only have one input I need to change to view a different source, plus I didn't have to replace my Yamaha RX-V1 which would have abeen a pricey affair.
