Silly Newegg, UPS is for kids!

I was looking at ResellerRatings the other day and I noticed how Newegg's rating has slipped quite a lot lately. As I read through the negative comments, I noticed that many of the negative comments were because of UPS screw-ups. It's kind of unfortunate to see the Egg move away from FedEx as their primary shipping company; I always got components shipped from CA in two days with the "Express Saver" shipping and UPS ground has never been as fast.

UPS does suck, but I refuse to pay so much extra for the same shipping via FedEx. Unless it is something expensive which would require a more secure and safer shipping route.

i really agree with you, i just made two orders from the egg, one personal for about $400, the shipping via UPS was $9.98, with Fedex it was $23.75 (WTF?) and of course everything came late..... by a day.

I just also ordered some shit for work about $1,500 worth of stuff, 4 barebone systems with components. I got them mailed UPS and guess what? i got all the components in 4 days with UPS's 3 day, but i am still waiting for the barebones, for some reason they have not moved from KY in 3 days.....i hate UPS so much! Fedex's cheap shipping always got to me in MI in two days including ordering day if i did it before noon EST. Thats 2 days cross country.... so much better!

Yeah everything was better with fedex. Not only did I get things faster, but the condition they came in was better. My recent orders with ups can with the boxes half destroyed, I'm just waiting for the day my stuff comes messed up.

I'm the exact opposite. I have had nothing but bad experiences with FedEx Residential services. Literally every single thing I've had delivered from FedEx, I've had issues.

I've shipped many, many things via. UPS and have had only 1 issue. That was a set of car tail lights thats got smashed in shipment, but they promptly addressed my insurance claim and I had my check within a week. Have had no issues with receiving shipments what-so-ever.

Well....I just got my shipment from UPS and surprisingly all was well...I've had a video card rma that I recieved back from bfg one time that looked like it was dropped in a mudpuddle and walked on for hours on end....Well all I use to ship is UPS, being that's the closest place to my house that will actually track your packages (referring to the bad tracking experiences I've had with usps)...Well I always insure my stuff, and they are my only shipping company I use when I ship for my ebay auctions....

Could you explain some of your FedEx issues?

To everyone else: Zipzoomfly still uses fedex and its free for almost anything.

But thats a whole different department from the Express Services I believe.

I have to agree, UPS has always been consistently late for me and generally a bother that I'd rather avoid.

Put me down for another who really misses Newegg using FedEx. Could orders things have them in 2 days on their cheapest shipping and never had a problem with damages.

On the bright side, at least Newegg isn't as slow as Amazon is.

I always get things faster than Fed Ex...packages are never damaged, the UPS guy actually won't deliver w/o signature...fed ex just leaves $2000 worth of equipment out at the door or in the rain...bleh.

Agreed totally. Back when they first started offering UPS, I was buying a Gigaworks S750 system. I'd looked at these and drooled for at least a year. Finally I had the money, and the reasons, to buy them. So I did.

Picked UPS shipping. Figured eh, why not? It's cheaper after all. IIRC, the speakers took a week or so to get here. Finally they arrived in my hometown. The next day, they were out for delivery. Boy, was I excited.

And man, was I pissed when they DID NOT ARRIVE! I live in a city of about 80,000, at max I'm 15 minutes from the UPS center in our city. Yet from 7:10 AM to the end of the day, the speakers failed to make it to my door? WHY?! Not only that, but the UPS guy DID come to my house that day, to deliver a package to my mom. Then I saw him a mile from my house maybe 3 hours later. I wish they'd just let me pick it up from the UPS place in town, I could have got it the night before and saved myself the frustration of waiting. Finally they came the next day at about 2:00. Since then I've ordered nothing but FedEx from Newegg, even when it's $5 more for a small item. UPS just frustrates me so much (more on that below), not to mention being so slow.

Another thing about FedEx vs. UPS... FedEx has much better package tracking. Usually a package will have 2-3 updates per day. When it's delivered, you get the exact time. AND they always leave my Newegg packages on my back deck, and the online tracking will say "Package left at back door." UPS tracking will usually tell you when it left the DC near Newegg, when it's in Chicago, and when it's out for delivery. Then the guy comes and dumps the package on your front porch and runs back to his truck. Sometimes we don't even get a courtesy doorbell ring.

Yeah UPS Ground is cheaper, but it's hurting Newegg's rating IMO. Imagine how great they'd do if they offered FedEx Express Saver at low prices.

Ups is 10 times better for me, Fedex WILL NOT deliver any of my packages earlier I had one arive to the warehouse in 1 day they didnt ship it out to me till 4 days later cause I didnt pay for faster shiping, UPS gets the packages to me usually with in 3 days sometimes 2 and they WILL deliver them earlier, and they always come in perfect condition.

UPS will not deliver mine earlier. I had four packages arrive at the warehouse yesterday and they decided to only deliver 3 and wait on the rest.
