I have a eVGA 7800GT, the one that came with the free board.

I just now noticed that it is VIVO. Does that mean I can take the video output from my (using leapfrog wireless transmitter to send the satellite signal to a 2nd tv, but would use the pc if this idea worked) and have it show up on my pc?

Would I be able to record what is being sent in the video card? How would I go about getting audio in?

Thanks for any info

Could you repharse that part of your question, it's a bit confusing.

I have a wireless leapfrog system, it sends the signal from the dish receiver box with a transmitter box to a receiver box (sorta like a wireless signal splitter) plugged into a different tv so we can watch the dish in a different room without needing a dish receiver activated there.

Was thinking of hooking that receiver up to the vivo on the 7800GT and somehow be able to watch the dish in the computer room if possible, with the ability to record through the pc being a nice possibility if I didnt have to buy anything extra to do that.

I know it sounds confusing, it makes me a little confused thinking about it, but its prolly not possible the way I have it thought out in my mind.

so it would be going from

point a (your original tv) to point b (your PC)

from point b (your PC) to point c (2nd TV)

?

It would be going from point a (original tv), to point b (my pc). All cables involved are the red, white, yellow, RCA style. I just want to know if it is even possible to go that way.

(About now is where the wife would be giving up on the idea and not wanting to hear about it anymore, :p )

Yeah most women have no patience for these adventures and are just as content watching TV on TV :p

I think I see what your trying to do here. Just to clarify though, the input to the PC is going to be from one of the Wireless receiver boxes correct? Not an actual dish receiver box. If so, does said box have any other outputs such as S-Video?

The signal will be going in the pc from the receiver box (Terk LF-20S system to be exact).

Only outputs on the receiver box are RCA and Coax outputs, no S-vid.

Your VIVO card has only S-Video INPUT, you need to get a S-Video to RCA adapter, like this one: adapter

Put the yellow out on this, then to the S-Video in on your 7800GT. About the audio, you will need this kind of adapter: audio adapter

to plug it on your sound card (there is a jack type RCA to mini plug stereo adapter too). To properly sync video and audio you'll need special software.

Or, you can buy a cheap TV tunner card with coaxial input, and forget about the audio synchronization.

Good luck

So after adapting to S-vid input and using the audio adapters to convert RCA to plug in the sound card line in, what would I need to sync everything properly? I think I have adapters like those somewhere in the house.

Frankly, I have never tried that, but there is Power Director, you'll need it just to see what's on the video input, maybe it has audio options too.

Other members participations would be apreciated :D

Here I thought I was going to need to get some ATI AIW card or some TV tuner card that all those htpc guys talk about. Never knew my card had vivo, no mention of it in the owners manual and I prolly overlooked that huge cable bundle in the box when I built my pc. Was too busy checking out the card itself when I got it.

Gonna be sweet if I ever get things to work like I think they should  .

Ok, I got the WDM files installed and the Nvidia breakout box thing and video adapter for my setup. Just trying to get video at this point before moving on to audio.

How do I go about viewing the video that is being input to the video card? I can get the video to show up in Windows Movie Maker but I dont want to capture everything, just want to be able to view it with the option of caputuring it if I want to.

OP has probably already figured this out, but 7800 GT VIVO DOES include composite in. I know because mine is hooked up.

Yup, just noticed that when plugging everything in, dont need a video adapter, at least I didnt open it yet, gonna going back that one is.

Found that Virtual VCR works great in showing me the video in side of things, just gotta get some audio in and I will be all set for watching tv in here.
