You have got to be kidding me! This is flat out pathetic, this just shows me how stupid some people are.

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=29460

On a different matter, it seems to me that this article implies that Americans are smarter than the french.
"Apple didn’t do that in the United States, where people are considered responsible enough to turn the things down before their ears start bleeding."

it's not all stupidity. a lot of people (myself included) listen to their iPods in noisy environments, so they turn it up louder than they should. i didn't really think much of it until i noticed that i had to listen to mine with the volume at around 75-80%, even in quiet environments.

lol i listen to my ipod amped and i play it as loud as i can without distortion. Thats something like 90% on the amp and 90% on the ipod. Ill go deaf soon but thats what hearing aids are for

Sarcasm does not always translate well in writing.
I don't want to sound as an old fart here but this needs to be said: gradual selective hearing loss is sometihng common and underestimated.
Hearing aids are to help people understand speech not enjoy music.
If your hearing of 10kHz and above is gone then it's gone, hearing aids won't help you. You will surely be able to listen to music but its richness is gone.

As long as you don't develop tinnitis, which will ruin your life.

..Wait!...Wha?

"A Luisiana man"...... "France"?...

"Americans...responsible.."

Thought it said that it was a Loisiana man = dude from Luisiana, US...?
so..what is that last part about? (read the first link posted..)

Why only start now when people could have been filing lawsuits against the inventors of cassette walkmans. ;)

you have to love pepole that think of this kind of stuff. Cuz if they win the suit they will be f*ing rich.

Now I have to say taht im sure some ware in the iPod manual they say that Using the iPod at Loud Volumes for an extended Time may cause hearing loss

Also. Cuz im not crazy like strikeout I want to keep my hearing as long as i can.
Do any of you know of a dB monitor(Windows based)
Thanks

This is why we should all put sound deading in are cars so we dont turn are sterieos louder than they should be.

pretty soon they will be limited to like 80 decibles because of this clown wouldnt that suck.

There really isn't a way to limit volume in db, but they could limit output power, which would suck for those of us who use high impedance cans unamped ;)

As for the lawsuit,

Yes I probably listen to my music a little louder than I should on occasions but some songs need to turned up to 1. wake or piss off the neighbors 2. make it sound cool. Who in the hell listens to a song they really like on 1/4 volume? I am waiting for them / apple/itunes or whoever to have to start limiting an mp3 or such to X amount of dB output, now wouldnt that just sux. Could you see the warez posting on this? "ITS WAREZ BUT YOU CAN TURN IT UP MORE THAN 80dB"
