Performace issues with X3: the reunion

This game is really cool so far, i've only gotten through the very first battles that you jump into on normal mode, i could not find the tutorial, unless that was it. Lots of stuff to figure out. But anyway, i'm having some really crappy performance whenever enemies get near me. Any time one of the khaak or whatever they are gets in close range with me the game crawls, like dips down to 2fps while they are close to me. Anyone know waht could be causing this? I'm going to reinstall tomorrow if i can't figure it out, hopefully that will help.
 
go to the egosoft forums. lots of performance tweaks and info there.
I was a big fan of X2, but that steaming rancid pile of dead animal excrement called X3 makes me mad just to think about it.

I take it you had issues with it too? Starforce won't let me install it (legal copy bought from gogamer.com) :mad:

Starforce has that thing were if you can prove it borks your computer they give you cash right?

I had no problems with starforce, just the game itself. its so slow and buggy, and has little in the way of features from X2, just pretty graphics. In fact, they removed alot of stuff because they "didn't have time"

LOL no

1.3 fixes SOME graphics lag problems, but almost all of the missing features are still MIA, and they "tweaked" the AI so basically your stuff gets randomly destroyed and overwhelmed with AI enemy ships.
 
From what im reading on other forums it seems to be much improved and actually fun to play now. I was thinking about going to buy it today?

Some people do like it. Most of those who like have never played the older ones.
Most of those who hate it have played the older ones, because we know what it is they took out, and miss it.
 
Okay, well then good thing I havent played X2, maybe I will just go and get it and hope for more features as time goes on.....plus there is always the scripting / modding community

yes, the scripting community is VERY active. By far, they have been the ones making the game playable and decent and fun. It has UBER potential. It took them 4 major patches to get X2 to a really fun point. Heres to hoping that they will continue to patch X3 as well.
