I downloaded a word document from work's website that I needed to edit. I edited it then accidentally closed Word. It asked me if I wanted to save and so I said "yes." Well I heard my computer save, but I have no idea where it saved to (since it was opened directly from a link on the website, not from a place on my computer.)

I tried opening Word again and chosing the file from the "recent files" list but it didn't have any of my saved work.

Any ideas?

Try

X:\Documents and Settings\Profile name\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

oldmx

temp int files - not seeing any word docs there

search - brought up original, unmodified doc

rec files - tried it but it didn't bring up the modified version

:(

C:\Documents and Settings\[USER[\Local Settings\Temp

That usually has records of any file you've been working on. It may be with a .tmp extension, so do a search for the original filename... e.g. "file.*" and if it is a .tmp file, rename it to .doc and you might be in luck.

thanks for the replies. couldn't get them to work this time but it's good to know about these options.

document re-edited and done

thanks
