Should we be concerned about this:

"From February 1, 2006, BlueGears will not be liable for any past, current, and future of any sales, support, and RMA issues for HDA X-Mystique and VR-Fidelity. For sales, support, and RMA issues, please contact [email protected] (Tel: 408-519-5825)."

See: http://www.bluegears.com/

Means that another company will be taking over for Bluegears as a frontend for HiTec.

Interesting. Boy, that wasn't very long either....... what.... 2 years at most for the X-Mystique?

Personally, I don't like the concept of supporting only the current sound card.... and transfering other people with legacy products to another person/company.

Many people hailed the X-Mystique as being competition for creative labs........... but so far creative labs still does some things better as a company.

Thanks for the info georgegeorge.

Great. Now the driver support with decrease from shit to inert.

Bluegears was just a distributor..You still get drivers from HDA's website, not Bluegears. I wouldn't worry too much about it.. since they are selling cards at other outlets.. (newegg, zzf, etc). Besides.. I always felt weird when I went to their website and found out they also sold webpage templates.

The new HDA drivers are crap. They don't even have a change log online. I installed them and games like GTA started dropping sounds like mad.

yeah man crappy drivers and crappy support. i hate to say this but im going to buy a creative xfi and throw my mystique into the crapper where it belongs.

yea sounds like bluegears has had enough of it.. the thing that scares me is auzentech.com's website isn't even up, is this just some startup company?

A guy on Newegg left a review for the Mystique this previous Friday (1/27/06) and referenced that. Apparently he emailed.. well, just read:

"they [Bluegears] sold their sound card division to Auzentech and i emailed auzentech and they told me they are still going to continue to support the cards and are releaseing the x-plosion by middle of next week,... so they say."

I'm also skeptical on this due to the fact Auzentech's website isn't online yet. How could you possibly be getting ready to launch the next big thing (i.e., Sound board with Real Time DTS encoding) in a week, and not even have any product info out beyond what Bluegears had all ready released? I mean c'mon, not a single mention of it anywhere on the hardware sites with a week to go. Sketchy.

Personally I'm still looking at the Mystique for the time being. I like the fact I can upgrade to Burr Brown OPA2604s right out of the box for a small price ($4.28/ea)

On a side note.. I'm confused as to why a company like HTI can tout Dolby Digital / DTS Live formats, but a company with the resources of say - Creative - can't launch the technology. Makes no sense to me.

Kind of irritating-- the card works as it should for the most part, but I wish they could have released something to fix the issue with microphone input, etc not working.

I can't find the URL for HDA's website-- anyone have it handy?

Haha-- it *is* pretty useless-- i didn't find it because i was looking for hitech..not hitec. doh.

Because Creative doesn't want to support that kind of functionality since they would have to license hardware and software from the copyright holders of either or both, depending on support. Instead, they offer it via an external device, the DTS-610.

Yeah, the 610 is nice; I was actually looking into it. All it does is piss me off honestly because it proves they have the technology and initiative to implement it. I just can't fathom paying $100 for a stand alone box that re-encodes an all ready decoded stream - just so it can be re-encoded again. I have no problem with this if it's included with my sound board as a value added service of sorts. Damn the licenses though, Creative charges an asston for their new products. As such I'm sure they could figure something out. I mean, I'd pay an extra $20 for the functionality, whats another 20 on an all ready $250 - $400 sound card?

I have all but completely decided on picking up a Mystique this week. I need something with DDL to get me through the next few months, and at $85 I think it's a deal. In the mean time I need to take the $300 more I was going to spend on the X-Fi Elite Pro and upgrade my receiver to a newer, shinier Denon :D Hopefully I don't encounter some of the bugs people have reported with this card.

What do you ultimately think of this as, if nothing more, a temporary solution? I will be ordering the Burr Brown OPAs at the time of purchase as well for what it's worth.

Just placed my order for a Mystique, along with some other stuff I don't need :D I'll give it a shot and see how I like it. If all else fails I'll return it to New Egg in exchange for the X-Fi and order that damn DTS-610.

the card works really well, imo. i don't regret the purchase-- i just despise the marketing of bluegears- they were assuring all buyers of the x-mystique, when it first came out, that they would be updating drivers regularly and wouldn't be like "some other soundcard companies". it bothers me that we've had one update to drivers, and they're not that great.. and still don't fix stuff intrinsically wrong with the present set of drivers.

Yeah, I guess I'm hoping Auzen takes off with some of the HDA technology. At the very least maybe they'll get some new drivers out. But then, I think driver updates come more from C-Media than HDA them selves. I'm actually going to contact them (C-Media) later this after noon to see what the situation is. I'll certainly report back on whatever I find in this thread.

In the mean time, this should make for a good temporary solution for me. Paid $90 for it shipped, should be able to flip it for $50 in a few months when I pickup a X-Fi Elite Pro.

What issues have you experienced with the current drivers?

The driver bugs I'm having with it is the master volume dosnt control my left & right speakers, but it controls the center, rear left, rear right, & sub. Also when I turn on Team Speak it stops out putting DDL to the receiver & I have to keep turning on DDL after Team Speak is started.

I'm not concerned with the volume levels. My receiver remote is handy and I can control levels to all speakers, including surround and sub levels, in that fashion. What's Team Speak?

Cause of this bug I was forced to bring out the remote also, but its still a driver bug that needs to be fixed cause it not alowing me to use my volume on the media keyboard. As for Team Speak, its a VOIP program. www.goteamspeak.com

Well, that is an issue because I would prefer to use the volume on my media Keyboard as well. Not a huge issue though I guess, definately an annoyance. I still think the card is a deal for $85.

looks like the auzentech website has gone live..

they say the Xplosion has been released but i have yet to see it on any retail sites..

anyone have a link you can buy it from?

If the Xplosion actually just got released, my Mystique will be getting returned to NewEgg next week. ZipZoomFly had both models of it on their website, but listed as 'on order' That's gonna be your best shot.

X-plosion
X-Raider

Edit: I just signed up for a 'Back in Stock alert' and am emailing ZZF now.

hmm i wonder if the X-Raider is coming out at the same time..

the Xplosion seems to be the XRaider with the front panel (are there any pics of the front panel?) and the swappable opamps.

what is interesting is the XRaider is 20$ cheaper than the Mystique even though it does both DTSC and DDL..

the one thing we never saw was the daughter card to the Mystique, i wonder if the front panel is just the daughter board finally made available (will it work with the mystique?)

if anyone is interested i will take 50 bucks for my mystique and i will pay shipping.

well here is some new information..

i emailed auzentech sales asking about the Xplosion for sale and the reply i got was..

Thanks for your inquiry on the product. AuzenTech, Inc. will be handling all HDA line of product including the new HDA-XPlosion 7.1 DTS Connect.

HDA is changing to AuzenTech Co. Ltd. and AuzenTech, Inc. is their US branch office for the global distribution.

I am really sorry for the delay, but all the products are in the US ready to ship. However, due to the new company transfer of account, we are now registering our company with these resellers/retailers.

so it looks like auzentech is really brand new, hopefully it doesn't take long to get these cards out there. I am looking to try out the DTSC in my HTPC and move the mystique to the gaming machine (or vice versa depending on how the DTSC works)

I tried to call ZZF last night to see what their order staus was, but was on eternal hold and gave up. I'm definately going to get one and see how it does, just as soon as I can get my hands on it.

Peronally I'd rather have the XPlosion in my gaming rig, and the Mystique in the HTPC. This is because I'll only ever use SPDIF Optical pass-through for HT purposes so that my receiver does the decoding. In that sense it doesnt matter what processing the actual card does since it's only relaying the compressed signal. Whereas in the gaming rig you'd actually be getting the most out of the DTS encoding the Xplosion does by having it encode your game sounds to send out over DTS.

I am willing to bet that this whole thing is a red-herring/diversion, being HDA was unable to meet their of availability promise of January, which they failed to meet.

...wow. so they're being intentionally misleading and selling their company just so they can save face because of a borked product launch?

They are late and the change certainly is unexpected and late as well. Besides it is a change in distributors and not a sale of a company.

well not sure what is going on, still no XPlosion and it appears all Mystiques are on sale from almosta ll online vendors that still carry them (very few i found linked on their website, even have the mystique listed anymore)..

down 15$ to 25$ from 99$ to 75-85$..

not sure if they are just clearing them out, or if they are just going down due to the XPlosion being released.. (which is still no where to be found)..

Yeah I picked my Mystique up for $85 from the Egg. OverallI I'm happy with it, but it was a PITA to install. My system didn't like it at all, but I got it up and running eventually.

Mystique, Raider, or Plosion for gaming? I've got the Xplosion in my cart at ZZF, so tempting, but I could wait for the raider(out of stock) if it covers my needs. I basically just plan to do digital coaxial out to the Klipsch 5.1 Digital Decoder, then through my Promedia 5.1.

Any suggestions?

Awesome, still well within my 30 day return on the X-Mystique. Ordering the Xplosion this week. I'll start praying for decent drivers now.
