s/pdif input on a7n8x

after a bit of reasearch I see asus at one point offered a breakout plate with s/pdif in & out for said board. Seems that specific plate is no longer mentioned on their site so my question is, ....

Would taking some case wires, reset for instance since it appears to match the pinout on the internal header, and soldering on an rca and attaching to the line in work?

I know it would be a bit ghetto, but if it works that's all that matters at this point.
 
As long as you're matching signal paths correctly you can do that no problem. It's exactly like what they do, only like you say, ghetto.

no dice. did some (more) reading and it appears I am not the only one who cant get this working with a digitech effects processor. Oh well, maybe its time to step up to the plate and go for a decent sound card.

Anyone have any experience with either an Audiophile 192 or a Delta 66?
