I guess many of you saw this Anandtech article: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2680

So I tired out the X3 demo. It's absolutely beautiful! Try it out just see it, if not for the benchmarking!

So here are my scores:

Don't think you will see any X1900XT Crossfire results for a while. Why don't you run it in single card mode so we can compare?

Does it give a misinforming high score for dual core CPU's like 3dmark06?

ran it on my laptop :p

its like the fear benchmark

It also uses starforce as a copy protection... at least the retail version does. I've uninstalled the full game and won't be putting anything with starforce on my computer again... it's an insidious little bastard of a copy protection scheme.

This is with my 3700 at 2.7ghz... 7800gtx OCed to 499/1440. EAX and automatic quality turned OFF.

edit, oops. I didnt differentiate the X3 scores, from his 3dmark scores. Thought it was all in one.

I just added the link for comparisions sake. I've no intrest in the game itself, just picked up on the idea of using the demo as a benchmark. Seems to be a pretty high end 3D engine, it would be a VERY cool screen saver.

I'll post my single card stats in a bit.

Also, what's this about "misinforming" high scores in 3DMark06 for dual cores? What's wrong?

wow, nice graphics! i love the use of lighting and shader effects on the ships, they look really good for being rendered in real time, especially in that last scene, man, good lighting, smooth, it actually looks like metal, i like

i also like the music, that song in the second scene, kick ass, i love nu skool break type music, and that last song was great too, i'd love to have the game music

what the heck, my results from my computer

Looks unbelievable on my FPW2405 and is perfectly playable at that frame rate.

That is not correct. X1900 is significantly faster than the GTX 512 in this demo.

edit:

Just tried it again, this time with Adaptive AA enabled in the drivers since there are a lot of transparent textures in the game. Next to no performance hit with this game and slighlty better visuals.

Same settings as the other bench.

My SLI must not be working right. Ive created a profile, and browsed to the .exe, but my scores are not anywhere near others in here, with the same settings. Unless everyone is setting their drivers to the lowest quality? I have mine set to the highest, as thats how I play games, and think benchmarks should be done as well.

lol , i guess some people just cant understand what a benchmark is ,

check the first post SLI score , then look at mine ,

Just wait until the x1900s have been out longer... I thinks some people have to do the double, and triple take. :) very impressed by the x1900's performance numbers. wow. this must be a shader heavy app. :)

Ugh, I dont think this is working right...

At 1920x1200 with 0xAA/0xAF I get 37fps. At 2xAA/8xAF, I get 33fps. At 4xAA/16xAF, I get 31fps. I have some serious doubts about those numbers. All demo settings set to the highest, HQ set in the drivers. 2xGTX's and 2.65gig A64.

Here's a X1800XT (OC BIOS) @ 720/800 and X2 4400 @ 2.65Ghz

Maybe a driver issue.. what driver are you using?

81.98. Im on Xp x64 as well, not that it should matter. Just ran a 1600x1200 with 0xAA/0xAF, and it was 41fps. There is simply no way it should only be 10fps difference from 1600x1200 0xAA/0xAF and 1920x1200 4xAA/16xAF. AA/AF selected thru the demo, and the drivers set to app preference.

Ill try a run with SLI disabled, and see what that does.

edit SLI disabled, and I got the same score. There is some reason its not working, but I dont know why.

I wish I was at home right now so I could run this and post the results. Will do so this weekend. I've got the full version of the game, but I have not installed it yet because I will be upgrading some hard drives and reinstalling my Windows installs. Damn starforce..... I have to have 3 installs of WinXP- a 32bit for games with starforce, a 32bit for non-starforce games so I can still do cd/dvd burning, and x64 to mess around with.

This is with HQ AF (angle independent) and Adaptive Antialising turned on:

This is interesting that the X1800/X1900 single cards are right there with dual 7800GTX boards.

Is this a sign of things/games to come with video cards?

I bet it is - and X3 is a game as well so its not a useless benchmark like 3DMark06.

Well - in all fairness it could be that it's SLI implementation needs some tuning... and perhaps new Nvidia drivers could help also... but it is clear that shader intensive apps are smokin' fast on the new x1900 cards... *and* it's nice to see ATi in the lead for a change. :)

I ran the benchmark mode a couple of days ago in single card mode, and scored an overall 50fps, and only when to 58fps (see first post in this thread). I went with AFR when I created the profile, maybe SFR or something else works better, hadn't really played with it.

My rough guess at this is that the X1900XT at 1600x1200 4aa/16af is about 10% faster in this benchmark. That was looking at bobrownik's score, and taking into accoun that he was running an FX-60 @ 3.0, my 4800+ is only @ 2.6.

I cant get my SLI to work with this. SLI and single GPU scores are exactly the same (within 1fps). Im not so sure this benchmark is very accurate to begin with.. as there is only a 7fps difference from 1920x1200 0xAA/0xAF, to 4xAA/16xAF. That doesnt seem right to me.

There is no SLI profile for the demo, only the full game. You will need to create a profile.

I hate that game with a passion. I loved X2. X3= X2 with more pretty graphics, a broken story line, more bugs than an ant farm, and many working features removed. It epitmozies to me everything that is wrong with the gaming industry. Take the same old thing, and instead of making fun or adding new stuff, make it prettier and sell it for full price.

Screw them

I posted earlier that I did create one, still not working. I have three options, SLI multi-GPU rendering, SLI single-GPU rendering, and SLI AA. Obviously I picked multi-GPU, but it doesnt increase frames at all.

Did you enable AFR? Also, most profiles use single-gpu rendering. With AFR I gained a whole 8 fps with GTX 512 SLI.
