Ok, I just wanna know if my system is better or worse than an xbox360...cause I paid a hell of alot for it.

System:
[email protected]
2xEVGA 7800 GT CO
DFI LANPARTY nf4 SLI-D
10,000 rpm 74gb raptor
2gb mushkin redline pc4000 ddr500

Yes, it's better. A 360's resolution (for the most part) is 1280x720, with 2xFSAA. I'm pretty sure your rig can comfortably handle that resolution and more in any game.

Of course you don't have xbox live marketplace on the PC though, so no geometry wars.

haha, this sounds like you needed confirmation before you started an argument with your friends :p

but yea, your rig is pretty nice

Overall you've got more horsepower than a 360. However, I think that the 360 would do better at pixel shaders, that's ATI Xenon GPU's prowess isn't it?

It's hard in a way to compare consoles and PCs. Sure PCs are overall far more powerful, and high PCs are considerably more powerful than the 360, but in two years time, 360 will still run great on the 360, but new games on that two year PC might have a tough time.

The PC platform represents a higher state of the art from a combination of software and hardware at any given point. Sure console sofware gets better during a consoles lifespan, but the hardware stays the same.

At the end of the day, PC gaming is just a LOT more expensive if you're into all the bells and whistles and want high resolutions and frame rates and image quality. If that's not thrilling to you, you're probably better off with a console.

With sli'd 7800gt's? Definitely.

My pc looked virtually identical if not slightly better on a projection hdtv in call of duty 2 vs. a 360 hooked to the same tv. You should be able to run even more eye candy. You should be able to run 4x aa etc. at 1280x720, where I could only run 2x.

basicly with a FX-55+SLI GTs+2gigs of ram

hmm let me think about it..............................

yep ur comp owns a 360
my cousin has a 360 on his parents 30inch DLP or somthing like that. WAYYY TOOO MANY JAGGIES for my liking.
(yes its set up correctly. i personaly checked)

I would say even my system that cost about the same as an xbox360 ($700) is better

one of the best things is not having to pay a subscription fee on top of the ISP bill to play online :)

Your system definitely much better than the XBOX360. It better be since it cost at least 5x the amount more compare to XBOX360. But, what count is the games. The developer seem to put more effort in XBOX360 games. So far, I am more amazed by the graphics, presentation, attention to details and smooth frame rate of the XBOX360 games than compare to PC games. One looks at NBA Live 06 will know what I am talking about. You actually see sweat and vain from the players, amazing! 3D shooter games, the PC definitely looks better (example COD2), but arcade style games XBOX 360 definitely got an edge (example Dead Alive 4). The bottom line is it nice to own both, you got the best of both world. :)

Also depends what you mean by better and worse.

Graphics? Your system is better.

Flexibility? Your system is better, i.e. it can do a lot more than play games and music files.

Cost? 360 wins here

Stability? I'd normally go with the console... but given my experience with 360s lately...

Fun factor for games? That's a personal call. I like console gaming a lot more than PC gaming, but all of the games I like to play work really well on consoles moreso than PCs (Madden, DOA series, RPGs for the most part). If you like FPS titles, then the PC might be more your thing.

Your PC has much more horsepower than a 360. If what the 360 does is "high" def., your PC is capable of Ultra-high def. I had a 360 with my HDTV expecting it to blow my year-old GPU away, frankly, it doesn't. CoD2 looked better on my PC, and I like PC controls better so I sold the 360 on eBay, Anyway, PC software just rapidly progresses, you may have to upgrade but you won't have to wait for the next console for the next-gen graphics.

The 360's cpu is = to about a 1.8ghz celeron the GPU is somewhere between the 6800-7800GT. So for raw horsepower you're system is much better. If you were to run games at the same res as the Xbox 360 you would have much more performance as well. Don't fall for the hype...

3 cores a 3.2 GHz = 1.8 GHz celeron? Please explain.

Ya man, I play COD2 and some other at my friends house on a 50" DLP and nothing but jaggs, same thing at walmart and stuff.

No jaggies for me in CoD2 on a 57" projection HDTV.

Man, that is an amazing computer. Just one of your single video cards is more powerful then a XB360's.

I'll try to find the article. It's something to do with the pipelines and architect of the core/s

I have found that the PC gaming experience is just better, graphics aside.

True. And to whomever is mentioning the CPU, the Xbox 360's is based on the PPC arch, which wasn't that good in computers, for gaming at least (vis-à-vis old Macs).

I say the Xbox, since everyone is saying the PC. I like to root for the underdog.. :D

j/k

Your PC.. :D

That as well. When you're talking about 500-$3000 dollars to enjoy games money becomes less and less a modivating factor IMO. It's more about the overall experience. PC games this year kind of sucked but next year is looking pretty good. A return to Adventure Games, RTS, etc.

I know you're J/K but so many people have hyped the Xbox360 on these forums. Way more than PC. The PC really is the major underdog here.

Really? What do you find better about it? I am honestly wondering... The only thing better about gaming on PC in my experience is it that is a lot easier to pirate games (not that I would ever condone nor encourage or discuss that...). Console gaming just works, pop in the disc, and it happens. XBL makes online gaming pretty easy (though DOA4 online likes to crash and hang all the time, but that is the only one I have found that does it).

i have both and some thing are better on pc FPS , and the rest i like on the 360 online play is hands down better on XBL each has its merits and for 399 the 360 is one hell of a deal

i going to have to say that there just isnt alot of good games out for pc as there is for the consols.. i know since the system is so new it really hasnt established a great game selection as the PC has grown for years. But soon the xbox360 will have alot of games and they all will have a great fun factor to them. Alot of the games for PC just are killing me becuase they are all getting so new and you have to buy all this new shit for your computer to run them... i consider a xbox360 a etter price for the performance ratio... cause get this the xbox 360 will go on for at least 2 -3 years before its graphics really hit a change... and by then PCs graphics will be amazing and youll already go through about 3-4 generations of video cards ranging from about $1500-2000 total on just upgrading cards over the year and that xbox360 is still bought and paid for and its still running games perfect and still looking great.. but i dont know how our game graphic standards are going to be 2 years from now.

NBA Live 06 is an improvment but i still think it looks like shit. The detail is amazing. But you look at their faces and they dont ever change expressions. They have the exact same look at any moment in the game. Its not hard to improve the graphics if there is no motion id think. Amare looks like a gorilla, shawn marion looks like a monkey.. lol dwayne wade looks like dominique wilkens.. the graphics are amazing but still room for improvemnt.
