7800GS vs GT

Does the 7800GS even exist?

After Googling for it, I found a Register article from October, an Anandtech article from November, and a VF-zone article from January 11, but no mention of an actual product.

Were you referring to the 6800GS?

I think the articles about this card said it would be placed between a 6800GS and a 7800GT (no more 6800GT/ULTRA) in terms of price/performance. If that is true I bet it would be around 250 dollars, since 7800gt is 300-350 and 6800GS is 200. Just my two cents!

PCI-E.

I guess I was just hoping, after the 6800GS was at least as fast as the 6800GT, that the 7800GS would be likewise to the 7800GT....

Still, since my second box has a 6600GT.. it would be a serious step up..

how are we supposed to know which is better if it isnt even released yet and there are no benchmaks around...

my guess is the GS will be slower than the GT, just like the 6800GS, but also in the way the 6800GS was built on a newer process, it is likely that a 7800GS may be able to hit higher clocks than the G70 110nm GT, but if they nerf the GS by laser cutting 4 more pipes making it a 16 pipe card, then the GT is gonna be better i think

we shall see i guess.......

ouch.....could have gotten a GT for less than that, but i guess you know that.....

But not in AGP. And I think its safe to say that it'll be a lot less at the Egg or ZZF. The cheapest 7800gt at CompUSA is $379.

dang.....i think i would have dropped that cash on a new mobo and cpu to get in the PCI-E swing of things, but that wouldnt be quite enough for a cpu, mobo, and vid card.....but if you sold what you have and combined it with that $350 it would have been.... :D

evga combo is $375 + $200-300 for a good CPU, you probably could have gotten $300 for your mobo, CPU, and vid card together easily

you bought a 7800GS from CompUSA today?

i cant find a 7800GS anywhere, including CompUSA'a site

you know, it is out i guess.....found this after doing more searching...

http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2616&p=4

so how does it run, specs? cost?
Well, that's part of what makes this purchase so amazing--if you look closer at that AT article, it dates from last November, and after it came out, nVidia issued denials all around and claimed that the GS was an engineering-sample-only card for developers to test their code on for compatibility. That, and the version AT previewed was PCI-E, with the possibility of an AGP version being only a rumor of a rumor. So to actually have a GS AND have it in AGP is a double wow!

Spec on the new BFG (off the box) is 400Mhz core and 1250Mhz Memory, so kinda a faster slower thing compared to most GT's. GT's MSRP is $449.99, and GS is $349.99. Since you can pickup a GT for $280-350 online. I figure in a short while, the GS will be $250-300. If it overclocks hardly at all, it may push the GT out of the market tho.

So Faster RAM and Slower Core.. but How overclockable???

They will be in stock most placed on 1-27-06. (CompUSA, BBY, Frys, etc)

I thought I heard that Gainward got out of the US market. Why is 7800 gs tacked on to "Bliss 7800gt" . Which is it?
