any good recommendations on a nice stable oc'ing board for opty 165?

i kno dfi's are always top choice for ocing, but is there anything else? i just want to check out what other options i have

i welcome all suggestions, since i wanna look at my options

Can't go wrong with the Asus line. Make sure you get a power supply with a native 24 pin connector, otherwise you won't be stable with any board.

see my sig, running 300x9 100% stable

alot of people have mixed feelings on the eVga board, but for me it has been rock solid, the only thing i wish it had was in the memory voltage settings, you can choose 1.5, 1.6, 1.75, 1.85, 3.05, 3.25v.....which is good, i just wish it had a 2.95v and 3.15v option to fill the gaps there, there's alot of overclocking memory that runs perfectly at 2.9v and sometimes 2.85v is just barely too little and 3.05 is just barely too much

i had a set of OCZ Plat Rev 2 TCCD sticks and they run great at 2.9v but i couldnt select that, but in the end it was just as well as TCCD and 1T memory command rate dont mix with this board, Crucial Ballistix which have Micron IC's are the best for the NF41 mobo

other than that, i have been very happy with it, great board

if you get to pick a stepping, go for a CCB1E, so far they do really well

DFI =p out of the box my Opty 165 is running 289fsb @ 2.6ghz stock voltage =D mem is running at 260/520(ddr) and i play games alot stable with no crahin

i'm shopping for the same thing, an OC-ing board for the Opty 939.

based on reading about other people's rigs, if i had to pick today, it would be the DFI ultra-D or the Asus A8N32.

it seem like a lot of Opty 939 folks are using the DFI nF4 series.

i like the Asus because it's got great power-processing (power supply) circuitry on board.

besides this place and Anandtech forums i like the Newegg reviews. especially the reviews page for the 74 GB WD Raptor, my God about 1000 people raving about the Raptors.

yeah i kn dfi is good, i'm just trying to get some other brands into the mix. options dont hurt u kno?

I worked with the EPOX board but when comparing it to the DFI there was no comparison the DFI wins. DFI or Asus if it was my decision.

I don't know why people like Asus boards for s939...the layout is awful, and the overclockability is slim. Get the Expert if you can afford it, or a DFI Ultra-D. Before I bought an Expert board, I had a A8N-SLI Deluxe and it was terrible. Low vcore settings, minimal ram timings, and low htt.

I think once you touch a DFI board you NEED all those RAM options and high voltages. It's like crack, but without the bad after effects.

I like the Ultra-D b/c it was cheap and does what I need it to do. Almost all the boards will go 300+ on the htt and the settings are awesome. To all the people that complain about all the settings, this is the first board I've touched since my Biostar SFF BIOS. I've had no problems understanding it, although I'd say I spent at least 2 hrs messing with the bios and reading alot of posts on dfi-street.com. Having said that, if you do get DFI, make sure you get a PS, ram, and BIOS that supports that combonation as someone else has. There's alot of complaints about compatability issues but, if you stick with something that is tried and true, you won't have any problems.

Very true, although if you want SLI I'd go ahead and get the expert for a little more than my SLI-D. It's layout is better IMO compared to the SLI-D's. Esp for running dual slot video cards.

Yeah, if I were buying today, I'd get an expert myself. I have the Ultra-D and it's been great. Going to do the SLI mod soon ;).
